One of these in my local dealer for 15,000.

    Thinking of having a look.

    3.0 twin-turbo with 290bhp, nay shabby.

    Anyone had/driven one before?

Back in Sept 2001 I was definitely buying one of these up the north, '94 red & only 7000stg. Unfortunately Osama bin Laden struck & I was put out of work so no GTO  Back then at 24 yrs old insurance was a not too unreasonable £2200IRP. Great car but a little too high tech!

Very cool. I'd say the insurance might make you cry though.

    Insurance, whats that?

    LOL.

I'll have to include the insurance in the loan amount, which for a 20 year old male, even with a full licence and no claims will be about 5000!

    Ouch.

I reckon you're looking at nearer 8k or 9k for a 3 litre twin turbo car at 20 years of age. I went looking for a guidline quote from hibernian's website for a 2.0l Mondeo diesel and was given a quote of 6000 for comp. BTW I'm 23 and would have the equivalent of a 2 yrs no claims bonus.

A couple of years ago, when 25, I got it into my head to buy a 1.4 opel tigra, saw a great deal on one.

Pmpa said as it was classed as a sports car, I'd need a full, full no claims. Which ACTUALLY meant 7 years, or being over 30.......LOL

Goldberg, what year is the GTO? Great power as you'd expect, grip is phenomenal, Mitsubishi's techno-bragging exercise so there's plenty of features/toys. The chink in the armour is that the driveline is too weak for the power put down to all four wheels. If you get a good unabused one, it's great. Get a bad one and you'll constantly pump money into it, and there's a lot that can go wrong. Insurance, petrol, tyres and tax (€1279 per annum) cost mean it's relatively hard to sell them on. Lovely car, but for the money and cost of running it, there are better and more reliable cars out there in the same performance bracket. As far as insurance goes, there's not too much readily available that costs more to insure than a TT GTO.

Nice car but the interiors are a bit low rate. If thats of importance to you. Would annoy me.

Used to work out by Eastpoint, the jap car importers were behind our office - on my weekly viewing of their stock (great way to pass a lunch break!!) the same GTO's were there week in week out - everything else shifted quickly - Supras, Scoobies, Evo's, occasional NSX... which I never saw as being a good sign!!

Dont know too much about them, but have heard that the driving experience with them is a bit detached - a bit too much technological interference...
