    prevention...

    don't drink so much?

drink a pint or more of water before head, a hangover is basically just dehydration

have a bit of orange juice in the mornin, vitamin C helps.

A good W*** in the morning does wonders for the head, something to do with the chemical released in your body :)

    Well thats my excuse anyway!!

A pint. it really does work although probably not really what your asking for. Other than that nothing beats soluble Solpadeine.

2 tablespoons of baking soda (to neutralise acid and bile and produce salt to absorb water)
2 tablespoons of brewers yeast (to replenish vitamin B)
6 shots of vodka and orange juice (reduce withdrawl, cures headache and gives vitamin C)
    4 paracetomol + codeine

i don't think you can beat plenty of water or a another days drinking :D

the lemon thing.eat a slice of lemon.know it sounds sickening, but you feel much better afterward.

i find that if you eat an orange before you go to bed and bring a few of the little tangerines to bed with you (to eat if you wake up during the night/morning and are really thirsty) along with a pint of water can be great.
the oranges give you vit c, helps to rehydrate and doesnt slosh about it the stomach like a pint of water or orange juice does.

also, a good nights sleep is great too, my really bad hangovers are always after only getting just 4 or 5 hours sleep

    well, it works for me...

(At least) a pint of water before bed. In the morning a big fry up.

Also don't mix your drinks on the night out. Esp Bud and JD.... oh god...

Oh and never ever drink Miller.

Raw white pudding and more alcohol.........never tried it and never will but appearently it works

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 31,967 ✭✭✭✭Sarky

Hangovers are due to dehydration, so drink loads of water. A big fryup will help sort out the stomach and provide you with energy to actually do stuff the next day.

Mixing drinks is a dodgy business, especially with the rubbish they put in commercial beers. Guinness and whiskey seem to go well together, I find.

Milk, lots of milk, will do wonders for an upset tum.

I always drink a few glasses of water and 1 cup orange juice and then pop a few tylenol. Seems to work pretty well...that is unless I pass out before I can get around to drinking it:D

I find a bottle or two of green BPM before bed and when you wake up is actually bloody good. My friends swears by a tablet called Feminex I think it is. She never has hangovers and can drink pretty much anyone under the table.

Any one of those diarrhorea cure things like diarolyte etc.

They are designed to properly re-hydrate you and balance out all the electrolytes as well.

I don't use them often but if you're desperate drink either a prarie oyster or a bloody mary the next morning.

    Prarie Oyster

    Double Brandy
    Black pepper
Raw egg (don't worry the alcohol will kill the Salmonella)
    Dash of Worcestershire Sauce

If you can keep it down you'll be grand. Drink it in one.

    Bloody Mary

    Shot of vodka
    3 drops worcestershire sauce
    Lots of tomato juice
    Ice

Vanilla Ice-cream followed by Chipsticks followed by Lucozade. Works very fast. it's taken me back from the brink of 'vomities' several times. In fact, I'm off to the shop right now to purchase those very items.

get drunk again, you cant be hungover if your not sober.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 226 ✭✭Rolo Tomasi

    my favourite is:
    1. drag myself into a shower
    2. long hot shower and the time to die a little
    3. get dressed (optional)
    4. walk the shortest distance to an early house and stay there till you are 100% certain, the hangover is gone.

Reheated ChickenCurry leftover from the night before and a pint of water to wash it down.
    ...oh, and an Actimel.

It is extremely difficult to have sympathy for anyone who goes to the Q-Bar in the first place.

Sorry adjodlo, no criticism of you meant by my post, all I intended was to say that I wouldn't be the greatest fan of the place.

That's good to know. I adore Guinness, and enjoy a few pints in the pub, before hitting the club. But in the club, it's always, WTF am I going to drink now?. Can't drink Guiness, usually end up drinking Bud. Next day I just die. My stomach goes pear shaped completely. I rarely get headaches. Sometimes my stomach is so bad, I cannot hold down water!. That can last until about 4pm the next day if I'm up around 10am.

I have found when I drink a few shots of tequilla the night before, my hangover isn't as bad. I really can't understand the logic behind this. But I like to have something like a pint, that I won't consume in a gulp when in the club. It's **** when having a chat with mates, and you're the spare prick with no drink. So on that note, anybody suggest something that can go down nicely on top of Guinness, that won't destroy my stomach.

Back on core topic: WATER, as suggested many times, is the cheapest and most effective way to prevent a hangover (dehydration). But if you forget...;)

Aren't stomachs kinda pear shaped to begin with?:)

Anyway, I was drinking last night. Quite a bit, as other people seemed to be buying me lots of Guinness.

This afternoon when I got up, I prepared some tomato soup with egg noodles. It seemed to make everything all right again.

Oh yeah...that's all well and good at home, but I don't think they're going to serve me tomato soup and noodles in a night club :p

Surely there's Guinness drinkers in here, that ask themselves the same question as I, when they enter a club?

    Tuna, sweetcorn, mayonnaise, baguette.

    A big plate of chips.

Any of the above with a sugary cup of coffee.

    And ****loads of water
