Not sure if this belongs here or elsewhere, but what do the rest of you think of the drivel contained in this "Friends First" website. I'll post my opinion later.

    Enjoy.

FRIENDS FIRST equips youth, families and communities to make healthy life choices by imparting relationship education and promoting the benefits of abstinence until marriage. Successfully implemented across the United States and abroad, FRIENDS FIRST is a non-profit, non-sectarian organization.

    [..]

    Goals
    - Provide ongoing support to teens to reach the goal of abstaining from high risk behaviors and to encourage character development.
    - Educate parents, the primary and most effective educators
    - Sponsor events which support and promote the abstinence message to teens
    - Provide a resource to health advisory committees, community leaders and policy makers on issues which promote abstinence until marriage
Its a bit silly to be honest. Sex in relationships is healthy.

Sex between teenagers should be discouraged. However, it looks like this site discourages all sex before marriage.

Nothing overly weird about that. Not that I'm a proponent of abstinence, good god no, but these people are entitled to their beliefs and have a right to broadcast their opinion.

Myself I'd be more toward TmB's opinion.

    Kells opinion-

I think they're plain fúcking dumb. Imagine getting to bed on the night of your wedding and finding out "Ooh, my partner has got a 2" dick or finding out two years into a marriage that your partner is quite simply never going to keep you happy in the sack and then having to go through the whole break up when you could have done it 6 years before.

Dont know about the rest of you, but no matter how much I loved someone, if they suck in the sac they're sacked.

I believe that this kinda thing just makes sex out to be a taboo thing.

    Sex is healthy.
    Sex is natural
Sex has been around forever (and amazingly this is no exageration).

Take the society that was brought up in Ireland during the reign of the Catholic Church (ok they still reign I think but not with as much power). No sex till you got married then either. It brought up a society that is almost scared to say the word sex not to mind talk about it. (my mother is my example for this) It also lead to there being alot of overly frustrated men and woman. I don't believe that to be very natural at all, at all.

Era that'd be my own opinion.

    Ha.

That site reminds me of the chastity league in 1984.

    by George Orwell that is.

I would be surprised if the people running the organisation don't break their own code of ethics, regularly.

Sort of like the branch dividan cult, I suspect the head of Friends First, can have multiple wives and consorts.... him being sent from god an' all.

    I suspect that's a little cyncial too.

You know what I mean, like that Reverend in the States a few years back, who had his face plastered all over the TV, smiting smut.... only to be found in the back of a stretched limo, with two hookers.

Or Bishop Eamon Casey for that matter.
Utter evangalistic twaddle, then again, who am I to detract from a family 'values' site... if it's making Mr NBA star rich and people actually buy into that?

Yeah... umm... maybe I'll just go sell chastity armbands.... with an up close and personal demonstration of how not to keep the rules... for our female members....
That's ok though... I'm sent from god.

OMG, you can become a mentor or host a training event, just imagine, being at some kind of camp, with a big tent full of teenage virgin girls........the mind runs riot.

Right, it's not necessarily about being a virgin, but about abstention, which you can take up at any stage.

This topic is just flaming a group of people and tbh I think it's childish and immature to slag people because of their beliefs.

    Closed.
