    Matt Houston
    The magician

Does anyone else remember Simon & Simon. It seems to be one of the few 80's shows not getting a rerun somewhere.

Oh - and of course - what about Supergran!

You can download the theme music and opening title sequences to tons of 80's TV programmes at this site here:

    www.80stvthemes.com

It's a great site. Check it out and remember your long-lost youth! :D

"The Greatest American Hero" was the show. "Believe It Or Not" by Joey Scarbury was the song.

"Believe it or not, I'm walking on air.
I never thought I could feel so free... eeee ... eeee!
Flying away on a wing and a prayer.
    Who could it be?
Believe it or not, it's just me!"

That website above actually has a Realvideo video clip of the opening titles, just so you know Alany. ;)

    My own 80's favorites were:

    Knight Rider.
    Airwolf.
    Blue Thunder.
    The A-Team.
    Simon & Simon.
    Magnum P.I.
    MacGyver.
    The Fall Guy.
    CHiPs.
    Dempsey & Makepeace.
    Battlestar Galactica.
    The Dukes Of Hazzard.
    Hunter.
    T.J. Hooker.
    Sledge Hammer.
    The Equalizer.
Buck Rogers In The 25th Century.

That's all I can remember at the moment but there were tons more programmes I liked that I just can't remember right now.

    Wasn't 80's TV just great? :D

Sledge Hammer! was a show about a highly incompetent cop who had the phrase "Trust me, I know what I'm doing"

As the last episode demonstrated strongly, he didn't. Always tried to take the most violent way out of every situation, using his big gun (ooh er missus).

Manimal was a show about a bloke who could change himself into any animal. The only two animals he ever bothered changing into were a hawk and a panther. It only lasted eight episodes plus a pilot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,265 ✭✭✭aidan_dunne

Don't forget, sceptre, Sledge Hammer's police chief boss who would always shout, "HAMMMMEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!" after he'd just demolished a building with a bazooka or (in that last episode of series 1) detonated a nuclear bomb whilst trying to defuse it.

And who could forget his pearl-handled .44 Magnum which he lovingly kept on a silk pillow beside him on his bed, often talked too and, if possible, probably would have made love to it as well. And no, it didn't have an exotic woman's name like Mariella or Carmen. Sledge Hammer prefered to simply call it/her "Gun"! :D

"Trust me, I know what I'm doing"

    BOOOOOOOOMMMMMM!

    "HAMMMMEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRR!"

    Classic! :D

Remember 'cover-up'? It's kinda hazy now, but Bonnie Tyler sang the theme tune ( I need a hero!)
The original star got killed when he missed an air bag during a stunt. I think. So they just replaced him!

Can't believe noone has mentioned The Gemini Man. He was made invisible in a freak diving accident and has this wristwatch that keeps him visible. Every so often he can switch it off and go invisible for a short time. Too long and he could die! Ohhhhhh!

    Wow!
That's mad. I have spent YEARS asking people if they remember it and nobody does!! Just looked it up and found out there were 11 episodes filmed and a 2 hour pilot, but only the pilot and FIVE of the episodes were ever aired!!!!!!!

That kinda explains why most people don't remember it.

1976 by the way. Makes you feel old

Yeah, that was a good show. Ken's acting career has dried up since then but since he married one of the Barbi twins I guess life isn't too bad :D
