Quick Question about CPU Fan

Recently i took appart my pc for a dusting. The thing was averaging around 57-60 degrees (hot i know)

So anyway, when i took it appart and dusted it and what not, i noticed that the CPU fan sucks air down onto the Heatsink.

    Is this the norm??

would it not be better to suck air up from the heatsink, blowing it around the case(which i leave open)

By the way, after the dustin, it now averages around 51-52

CPU fans should blow down onto the heatsink. This is the norm.

all the cpu fan does is make sure the air gets to the heatsink helping it to radiate. the psu or case fan takes care of the airflow around the case. that temp sounds okay tho you didnt say what kind of processor you had.

Well it depends on the heatsink.
I have an Alpha PAL 8045 and it prefers to be sucked than blown.
But it has a shroud which does help.
