Well i agree with gettin rid of the TGB name its very bad very very bad.
A hpb team is a good idea but we will not be able to play our best team.
Granted the UK lpb's on uk servers will be impossible to deal with but i don't reckon they'll be able to handle Peterpan or Spoony or Cave and Junkie on Irish servers. But be warned i may be wrong some of the UK guys are just complete ninja's and are probaly well caple of railing someone with 1000ms let alone 20.
So why not have the best 12 players weather an lpb or not.If we end up with 6 lpb's and 6 hpb's well and good i'am sure the brits or french whoever are having the same debate and are well willing to have an lpb and hpb match
JM

P.S Keg and CT are gettin isdn as well OMG things are not gonna be easy.

Also i defo should not be on it i'am playin crap ATM but i will be back to normal as soon as the Speed kicks in
And Max will probaly fuk things up if i did get in.
Therefore i have no problem observering the training and being one of the selectors as i won't have a agenda [IE tryin to get meself in the team] As for my top 12 here you go.

Spoonman
Dr Teeth
Cave
Junkie
Fixxer
Tincool
[DF]Max
CastorTroy
Hugeinsect
Peterpan
Kegser
Butcher.

Now i may of forgoton to put ppl in there but
its not like everyone else will so chill.

What is this no lpb stuff? Surely if we have a great player with an isdn or t3 or whatever, then they should be in. The lower the ping the better, surely. I wont have my isdn for about four months at least I'd say, cos i gotta save the dosh first dont I?

hmmmmm LPB's, all ping and no talent

The Butcher (I stirred it so hard I broke the stick) Nog

heheeh but seriously

i think we'd need to go down the q1 road of actually travelling to play internationals on a LAN. we'd have no hope playing anyone atm the way the net is. what we should do is pick a squad and start having internal friendly matches. picking players should be based on match performance only.

we can pick a panel of selectors and let them come to say a panel of 12 players in total. then sort out the best of them.

My only concern with the lpb/hpb issue is that some tournaments I've seen have a rule that anyone not using a standard analog modem is classed as an lpb, regardless of ping. So if we have a team with lpbs, then the opposition will have lpbs - but their lpbs will have 1/4 the ping of ours to the Barrysworld servers. If we play all hpb, or more accurately, all analog modems, the ping situation becomes better.

It all depends on how they treat lpbs. If the limiting factor is a flat ping value, like 100ms, then we're grand - ALL of us can play, regardless of connection type, as we'll all have pings higher than that.

So, if we entered a 'hpb' tournament, where the rules said 'noone under 100ms', we'd be grand. However, it's more usually hpb/lpb with a quota of each, with an lpb being defined by connection type rather than ping.

In that case, we can't count our lpbs has hpbs, they get classed as lpbs, even though their pings are nowhere near as good as the oppositions designated lpbs.

Anyways, it's not a problem currently, as we only have 1-2 lpbs. If we have any more, then they would not be able to play in a tournament such as the one mentioned above, because of the way the classification for lpbs works - ie, they would be classed as lpbs, even though their pings would be as high as the hpbs on the oppsoing team and would be excluded from our squad because of the lpb quota.

hmm. I think I'm confusing myself here.. oh well.

Teeth.

YES! I made it twice!
Like Butcher said I really think we'd be better off playin the skanks on a LAN, cos as everyone knows the connections aren't too hot at the moment outside of Ireland. I for one would be willing to do some travelling if someone could promise me a visit to a red light zone or 2. The selection commity...uummm a tuff one to choose....we need experienced players who will not select their mates jus for the fun of it and would not select themselves again jus for the fun of it, we need a player with a good head on his shoulders and a strong eye for talent. My solution, only 2 ppl could perform just the task, Spoon and Butcher. They've been around since the start and they know what the storey is with regards to players ability. So lets stop the talkin and get on with the pickin, Spoon-Butcher, u lads up for the job???

Btw lads, no arguements on this, these are the lads who will do it, its already been decided by juNkie and man does he smell. So back them up and give them your support.

Cave.
btw why are yis setting up the team again??????? Did I miss something?

O yeah! before i forget, Butcher, any chance of HIV entering a B team in the iq2cl? Let me know.

• Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,316 ✭✭✭ButcherOfNog

aye i'll help pick the team, np. we need to get the iq2cl up and running thou, some players pick themselves as we all know the top few. once you get past no 4 it gets difficult. seeing how players play by admining clan matches is worth more than 100 pickup games on war1.

on a HIV b team, i'd love 2, as we have the number of players to do it, but only if uk connections improve. NrG for instance can't play on war1 anymore.

btw, discovered a very wierd problem at the weekend, CT was using the 1891 tinet no. and getting pings of 1000+ on the uk servers, switched to the 01 no. i was using and got pings between 200-250ms. how the hell it makes such a big difference I don't know but I can ping uk servers on tinet flex and get 240ms or so on the ukccl ones. we played DF last nite on SS's private server and our pings were grand, 250ish.

there is also defintely a problem in the uk, as freeserve isp users get 170ms to war1 while barrysworld dialup users get 300ms+

Well, i could get about a 60 ping to england if a q2 proxy does exist and someone has the address, so i could tell an english guy to put it up on janet. any q2 proxies out there??? at the moment i get about a 400 ping, which is why i never play there, i get a better ping to america

• Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,316 ✭✭✭ButcherOfNog

K first of all, TGB's thats a top name man

Regarding LPB's: Being one myself, on the UK servers I'm not considered an lpb as my pings are anything between 130 -210 depending on the night in question. The UK lads version of an lpb is anything up to 90ish I would say. Seeing as ct an Kegser will be goin isdn soon(we're all fuked now) it would be stupid to discount them aswell, I mean modem lads r going to get woeful pings to uk so we'll need as many isdn players as possible.

Modesty Fukk it, wtf am I not on the team u ho Tincool is there ffs gimme a break (sry tin) and 1 or 2 others that I could mention but won't
