    Hmmm.

I'msure 1278 people will have 1278 'cures' but none of which are guaranteed to work. Assuming this is acne, lets ignore the people who tell you to wash your face twice a day. There are a range of treatments, ask your GP. Ranging from antibiotics (Minocin, Tetracycline...) to topical applications (Zineryt, BP solutions etc) If its really bad then theres the daddy, Accutane. Though I'm assuming it isn't that bad. What I will say is this, if you with the BP route then use it as outlined on www.acne.org , as opposed to the traditional way. Make sure its 2.5 % strength (I havent seen it here in Ireland). Just try a few things and hope they work out. Less than 2% of acne cases have any relation to diet apparently..I know mine doesn't. I drink plenty of water, I drink none, stays the same (very mild thankfully).

Ive started using Sulphur pills in the last week or two and it makes a difference big time when used with drinking plenty of water

High doses of Vitamin B5 (Pantothentic Acid/Calcium Pantothenate) in the order of 5,000 - 10,000mg (yes, that's 5 - 10 grams!) a day has been widely reported on the net to be as effective as roaccutane/accutane, but without the side-effects (except for loose bowel movements).

However, only one medical study has been performed on the effects of doses this large, so even though it is water-soluable, it may not be completely safe at those doses in the long term.

A 1500mg a day may have the same effect over an extended period of time. This is also the dose of B5 recommend for people with arthritis!

Here's details of the medical study mentioned above and a link to where it can read:

While all that stuff will help. The back bone of making sure that is stays way is water water water water and a bit more water.

The water at the start will make you have more spots as the body flushes the toxins out but after that if you keep on drinking lots of water you will have pretty good skin.

I think if you try to overclean and over medicate, it only makes it worse.

I know when I had the problem, I went mental and washed fash loads and loads and tried every different thing availible.

In the end, stopping all that, washing just twice a day (with something that dries the skin out a wee bit) and maybe attacking the odd bad mofo with some toxic chemical did the trick.

Also drinking loaaaads of water helped, and a multivitamin mebee...

if not, go to a dermatologist

Aparently large doses of Panthothenic Acid (Vitamin B5) does work as well as the dreaded accutane. Over here though I think 500mg capsules are the largest you can get.

I did the B5 thing. Ordered it from the UK, 500 mg tabs it was. That meant a painful amount of pill swallowing, I took 20-22 a day, broken up into groups of 5/6. I had the initial breakout that is warned of, so I thought it must be working. Sure enough after maybe 5/6 weeks below my jaw line was quite clear and I used to get one or two there. The areas to the side of my chin didn't improve all that much. After being on it for around 10/11 weeks I got a bad breakout, as bad as I get. My conclusion: It doesn't work for me. In fact, if you read around the net a bit you'll find that beneath the miraculous rep B5 has gotten in some circles there is a lot of disappointment and doubt concerned with this treatment.

The website quoted above by me has a message board flooded with people who can't get rid of their acne, and presumably they've all tried drinking lots of water. Because they're desperate and try everything.

I use lots of BP cream these days. My skin is pretty clear now.

Best cure for pimples? Age. :)

But if you don't want to wait till puberty ends, the best thing is to eat less crap (sweet stuff, fatty stuff, all of that. The grease has to go somewhere, and it's always the face.), and wash your face now and again. don't go overboard on cleanliness or that will actually make it worse. Soap and water once or twice a day, or even just water, is fine.

And leave the things alone. Picking them is tempting, but makes things ten times worse. I tried picking one near my lip once, and ended up with a massive lip infection that I was told could have been life threatening.

That's from my experiences anyway, but everybody's different...

I personally have never seen a 2.5% BP cream for sale in Ireland. They have PanOxyl 5% and 10%, but don't use these as they'll burn your face off. I ordered Oxy on the Spot 2.5% BP cream from www.pharmacy2u.co.uk. It's a small tube, and it ain't all that cheap. You could use a tube a week if your acne is bad. Maybe buy a few tubes and start The Regimen and see if it makes any difference. Give it a few weeks before judging it though.

If you have a poor diet then try changing that. Give it two weeks, and most likely you'll find it made no difference. Then you can get back to effectively treating it.

No need to pay. There is this place in town that will sit down and talk to you for a while about your eating habits and all and then give you what you need. My sister went in the other day and was talking for over half an hour at no charge.

i'll get the address and post it up soon!

    try cutting out fried food

eat a piece of fruit in the morning, afternoon and evening instead of eating between meals -

drink 8 pints (4litres pretty much) of water per day - ease yourself into this one otherwise you'll flood your kidneys

    3 - 4 weeks you'll be clear
