If you get that you won't be able to use your nic for anything else, if you want to share it out or use a network with it you'll need a second nic. You'd be better off going for the 504, if you don't need your network card though, or have a spare one, it's perfect.

Should work grand with netsource by the way.

I don't think he'll need it for anything else, as he already has a router.

Mine took 5 minutes to setup and I haven't had a single problem with it so far. If you've already got a router then you should be able to connect the modem straight to the WAN port. Maybe the reviewer was trying to connect it to a hub/switch or something.

Personally I wouldn't get a DLINK - given the choice.

If you want a secure connection - go for Netgear kit. DLINK has far too many published hacks already available on the internet. There are also some restrictions documented as well, where DLINK kit needs other DLINK kit to work correctly.

Go for the Netgear DG-814 4 port ADSL Ethernet modem/router. Its well equipped and seriously reliable. Alternatively there is the single port version (DM-602).

Mine worked straigh out of the box. What exactly is the problem? Have you got an error message?

The problem is that I have a dsl connection (light shows it), but so soon as I try to connect it wont do that! It tells me something about " peer .." and than disconnected again.

How did you set it up? Where did you put your fixed IP?

    Can you help?

    thx,

    Leto

You don't enter the IP, it gets it automatically. I just entered the rest of the settings that netsource gave me and it worked fine. The only thing that I had to change was the authentication from PAP to CHAP.

Cool man! Many thanks for that. I have searched the whole evening for a solution. Just one stu... setting!

Something Netsource or Dlink should have on their webpage.

    Thanks,

    Leto
