What is the procedure in getting insurance from QD?

Rang for a quote yesterday and after giving all the details got a quote for 1000euro. I am 28 Full licence 5 years 3 years named driver 1991 micra .Fine I said and asked what to do next. They said all they needed was a copy of the NCT for the car and once they got that they would phone me to arrange cover.

This seems strange to me. No proposal form, no need to see licence. Is this normal procedure?

BTW How long should it take for them to get back to me?

    Thanks
    James

They take your word on the information you give them, If you need to make a claim they will check were you telling the truth . If they find you didnt tell them the truth when taking out your policy they wont honour it and dont have to pay out.

    Good Luck with the car

Yeah, that's standard for most companies.

What's pretty stupid though, is the fact that ANYONE can ring up and change your policy with only the reg of the car.
I did a transfer of my policy twice when I got new cars, and I wasn't bothered looking up the policy number- so when I rang AXA they just asked me for the reg and then they let me make any changes I wanted.

Also when I dropped the car in for a service, the guy in Park motors just rang AXA himself (with only the reg) when I was sitting with him, and transferred my policy temporarily to the courtesy car. Surely there should be a password or something!

You can do the same with Eircom. I only changed my Mam's account details last month when she moved house, and I only gave them the phone number, and the account is in her name- it didn't even have to be a woman's voice to change it.
