just wondering, my company van is not taxed (out of date since april). Is there any way of ME being punished if stopped on the road by garda, as in fine's etc? I've told my company a few times about the tax disc being out of date, but they havent got back to me yet.

If the car is register in the company name, then seat back and relax. It's their job to buy the tax.
The only inconvenients to you might be a long walk home when the Gardai will take the car from you to the impound for not being taxed.

Tell the Gards that its the company's job to tax the car, tell them that they will prob never tax it either. That will get the Gards on their case. In fact give the Garda tha name and number of who is supposed to tax the car.

The driver can also be prosecuted for driving an untaxed vehicle.
It is a drivers responsibility to check that his vehicle is roadworthy, taxed, insured and NCT'd before he drives it on a public road.

I was in a similar position recently - company vehicle untaxed for over 2 months - guy in head office responsible kept saying he would "sort it", eventually he did.

However, I suspect that all but the most belligerent Garda would let it go.

    Silvera.
