Converting from ISDN to Broadband...

Is anyone here converting from ISDN to broadband like me?
I am not sure about the whole process, as some of you may know you get a big white box for ISDN, and with the broadband they replace it with another box (that is what I was told by IOL) and since I picked the self install IOL for €90, will I have to do the wiring, since I don't have a clue about it.

Also with the second line for the ISDN, when do I tell eircom I want to cancell that since I won't need it since the broadband has a higher frequency (or something) than the normal telephone line?

Does anyone know what Im going on about, if so please reply!

You need to convert your isdn line to a normal analog line. Eircom will give you a splitter which splits your line into 2. One for your adsl and another for voice calls.

    Simple.

Only one trouble with migrating from ISDN to ADSL is that you cannot order 'self-install'.
Eircom will charge you 20 euro to downgrade to pstn then 199 euro to migrate to adsl. This is, of course, if they will even admit that they can do it at all. When I first rang them two months ago they said that they were not sure how to migrate from ISDN and to call back in a month once they had sent their engineers on a course!
It has taken two complaints to COMREG to get this sorted and even then the different depts within Eircom couldn't agree on how much it would cost.
I have copied the latest email from Eircom below for your amusement.
One other point, perhaps not for this thread, is that if you want to know when an Eircom exchange will be ready then ask Netsource. They were able to give me an exact date for my local exchange to go live when Eircom would only say 'within a month or so'

    Eircom email follows :)

    20th June 2003

    Dear Mr *********,

Thank you for your complaint through the Communications Regulator
    regarding
    eircom's rollout of ADSL.

Having investigated you case, I apologise for the misinformation you
    have
    received regarding adsl.

I now have a reply from the Broadband Product Management as follows:-

I have had the customer's line pre qual for DSL and it passes the test.
    He
is service from PMKD E10 Exchange , which is currently not DSL enabled,
    but
is forecast to be suitable for DSL, within the next month or so.

Customers would not normally be advised of the charge to migrate back to
PSTN, when they are ordering a Hi-Speed line. Naturally they would be
advised of the charge to up grade from PSTN to Hi-Speed.

The relevant charge to migrate from ISDN to DSL is ˆ185.00, which
    includes
the charge to migrate back to PSTN. Customers have to migrate back to
    PSTN,
in order to get DSL. We do not provide DSL over ISDN.

If you have any further queries regarding ADSL, please do not hesitate
    to
contact me at 1800 200 481, and thank you for the opportunity to resolve
    you
    query.

    Kind Regards
