I have an issue

It's called the thousands of people dying of poverty, malnutrition and war every day.

See, it sort of makes me .... take a step back and look at some of the threads people post, about ascenine things, whilst thousands of their fellow humans are dying in droves (in pain, suffering and mysery) everyday.

Anyway, that's my personal issue, I have an issue with people having issues which predicate themselves into the sorts of nuroses you see manifested in these threads, people who come from an pretty rich and peaceful country, where you aren't really likely to die of malnutrition or dirty water, or ethnic 'cleansing'.

It's called debt relief, it needs to happen, it's called an end to neo-colonialism... that needs to happen too.

    That is all.

    wow, another paradox typie.

fact is that people have their own issues in life, and alot cant cope with the issues of others.
if your so worried about ppl starving andf whatnot, why dont you sell your bike and move over there as an aid worker ??

Basically your saying that because people are dieing / starven in the world peoples small problems are not important ? or should not be discussed ? or just that they should not get help ? thats rediculous imo...

of course people have biger problems than us , there are dozens of armed fire fights going on every second of the day , BUT that does not make the fact that it it hurts when jerry pees ,jimbob is upset because his uncle touched him where he shouldnt or Margret sees nasty things when she close's her eyes any LESS important, real or howwible for the respected people,

However I know where your coming from , some muppets post on this board allright, and really need to take a step back and realise that they dont need to make a new thread because they hurt their big toe etc...

Nah, it's more a 'statistic' I heard, that claimed 34,000 children are dying world wide everyday, due to war, malnutrition and what not.

Nobody lifts a finger for that really, but, thus far, for 2,800 Americans killed on Tuesday September 11th 2001, there have been two wars fought.

It sort of puts the importance of life into prespective a little bit, I think.

    Humanities board i think.

I bet you some joker is now gonna post a thread entitled 3rd world, with the username starvin marvin.
Point is not many 3rd world children have an account on boards.ie.

These are the people who have an account on Boards.ie
people who come from an pretty rich and peaceful country, where you aren't really likely to die of malnutrition or dirty water, or ethnic 'cleansing'.

but if stavin marvin posts a genuine thread, il give him my advice

i see where your coming from, alot of the issue's are mild compared to 3rd world hunger, but its unfair to compare them

peoples problems are all relative to the persons past life experiences

someone living in africa with barely enough food to survive might actually think themselves extrememly well off compared to people with nothing to eat, and they might be happy with their lives coz theyre not familiar with the luxuries we have

someone in ireland who has a personal problem which doesnt immediately seem life threatening coz its something like theyre scared to come out, or their mum is an alcoholic or whatever may well be affecting that person in a worse way than that african with barely enough food to survive

    its all relative
