Beat 102 now on air in the Southeast

Beat 102-103 starts officially tomorrow, but they are now broadcasting non stop music on 102.0, 102.2 and 103.0 F.M

The music sounds good so far, basically 80's 90's+ today with a lot of club music.

My RDS is redirecting to 102.2 up here in north wexford/South Wicklow, but I can pick up the other two.

I don't expect East Coast FM will be best pleased as so far they are the only station round here with a big music diet.
Also their 102.9 frequency which gets all the way down to wexford is going to get wiped out by Beats 103 ( it is here ) .

Anyhow another for the preselect here in the sticks and great to hear it too!

Sometimes I cant believe once you pass Arklow how dead the frequencies are! (I know, big mountains etc...:D)

Travelling through Wexford recently I was surprised that even the Waterford or CKR stations couldnt be receieved. Only the local and the 5 nationals, and an obscure Christian channel, possibly UCB? WTF ???

Even in North Cork you can get all the surrounding locals, more choice.

Back home in North Meath, the spectrum for me is quite full, all the Dublin stations (I could even receieve low powered Phantom FM when it was on air!), LMFM (turgid local ****) Shannonside AND Northern Sound (the two flavas) Midlands 103, CKR and BBC Radios 1 and 2.

Yeah, due to my height here,I can get 98fm, and a mile or two up the road, spin , 104 etc come in, but it's those last couple of hills , just before Arklow that are the killer.
98fm nearly makes it to Belfast, in the other direction, three times the distance.

That UCB, I don't know where it comes from, but it says a lot about wexford when without East coast fm, you'd be stuck listening to it for the music....

All to gether now #" One day at a time...sweet Jesus...,thats all I'm asking from you....#":D

Music for 15-34 yearolds , it says in the advert in the local rag.

What with 2fm gone all fanning after six now and south East radio playing err... country and western after 5pm ( wtf??)...,
their weekday schedule looks good enough:15.50-1950 - Beat Drive
19.50-23.50-hot 40 countdown;songs voted by the listener apparently.

But I like the look of their morning slot...,as down here all you have is a discussion on the wexford sloblands in the morning on SER, or Gerry Ryan unless you want Darcy:eek:
Chloe and bob will have the first non stop "six in the mix" every morning from 0850 , it looks like mostly music all morning-no bad thing and they have played transvision vamp in their test run :)

Well, the branding of the station is Beat 102 103 (pronounced) "Beat One Oh Two One Oh Three" so that wont show up on RDS.

Lyric FM has moved from 102.2 FM to 98.1 FM. Beat is on 102.2 FM. i can't say that i noticed Lyric moving because my Hi Fi seems to have changed it automatically. i think it was programmed in on 99.2 FM

They've played Beautiful day at the start of two of their programmes now...
Paul mcGuinness is actually one of the backers of the station:D
They have a "chris barry" style phone show in the afternoon from 1.50-3.50 not sure whether I'll like that, don't usually listen at those hours anyhow.
Other than that they seem to be playing a lot of mooooseek which is good so far, and having it as an option instead of all the talk in the mornings is good.

i listened to it for a good bit of today and i think it is very similar to Red FM in Cork. i'll probably be sticking to Today FM through the wireless

Those stations have a huge coverage area - and there is a large area where you can get both.

The best thing about those stations is the cheesy jingles - although the old "Mid-laands Raydio Three" was a close second. I haven't listened to it since the name change though.
