Well as far as I'm concerned all that's being offered at the moment, is an "enhanced" version of "No-Limits."

I don't understand why none of the Companies involved, offered Full Broadband at an affordable price for everyone. If they did I believe they would have a seriously massive chunk of the Market. I agree that the hours offered and being able to log on anytime is a step in the right direction but: I also believe that it's just pushing affordable Broadband for the masses back yet again.

    Mick

I am back from the UK and have asked this question over and over, it is ludicrous that UTV offer a UK version in the North and a different inferior version in the south???

    I ask you?

PS COMREG must be a laughing stock when sitting at the EU table!

"How big is Ireland? 32,000 sq miles. Mon Dieu and u can have 2 different types of broadand in such a small place??? And u have BT operating in both parts and u get an inferior service in one part to the other!! Ho! Ho! that is indeed very Irish.

Yeah u guessed not a very happy bunny and the annoying thing is I was told Ireland was top for IT!!

I blame Eircom and their head in the sand greedy sick capitalist Directors.

It is high time that the Irish Government or its so called watchdogs kicked Eircom in the goolies and used their powers too introduce a - Broadband 4 Ireland - campaign.

No ISP can be expected to introduce a fairly priced always on Broadband service to the Irish populace or commercial sector as long as Bertie and his cohorts sit on the sidelines with a sarcastic smirk on their faces while Eircom continues to rip off the electorate while being allowed to continue blocking true competition in the telecommunications service industry.

Ah, from the government's perspective, doing a press release is enough without actually doing anything contained therein. Also a policy at the Department of Transport.

"No, really folks, we're top for IT development and investment!"
    See, job done.

    "We're an e-hub! /whispers What's a e-Hub?
    See, job done

"We believe Internet access is very important and all Irish citizens will have a 5 megabit connection to the Internet by 2005! We're number one!"
    Ah, you get the picture.

Ah well, nice to see I am not alone. Now what I want is for satelite BB or wireless to really take off and then we could say bye bye to eircon and others but I am getting old and time is running out

    gb--

PS or the house market in uk might crash and I could go back for another 5-10 years and then Ireland may have got top where the UK are now.

pps What would happen if we had an United Ireland?? Hey that could be a goer or would the NORTH lose out!! Heck I had better stop this thinking.

    Why is it ludicrous?

Whatever your political beliefs are (and this is NOT the forum to discuss them), you are talking about two seperate countries.

    Thats right. South = Ireland

    North = UK.

Do portugal and spain have exactly the same prices? no
    How about norway and sweden?

I think his point was that in the North you have BT offering decent broadband while in the South you have the same company offering feck all, not because they don't want to but because we have a muppet ruled national telco who refuse to play ball. It makes our government out to be a laughing stock, which they are for allowing this state of affairs.

Spot on LFCFAN. I rest my case. I could say a bit more but I won't.

Err...not so. Until recently EsatBT were relying on their own infrastructure to deliver broadband, they were helped to build such infrastructure with 12 million odd euro of taxpayers money. They managed to roll out a grand total of 30-40 residential DSL lines.

EsatBT are not part of the solution, but also part of the problem.
