Any one got eircoms solo package for 107

    Just wondering has any one got the solo package from eircom for 107 quid pr month , its supposed to guarantee you dl 512kbs and up 128 im just wondering if this is true ,

    And is there a difference when it comes to pinging on games servers between the 107 quid per month one and the 54 ,

    thanks some pings would be nice

    Solo package is ADSl and therefore should be constant dload/upload. (unless contention comes into play, it has a much lower contention then the €50 products tho as its a business one iirc)

    The solo package however (as i beliebe its a business product) has interelaving on full which means that ping pings suffer.
    The Eircom business package we have here gives us pings ofr 60-70 to www.jolt.co.uk.

    There is a sticky with ping times tho, i suggest you check there,

    So what your saying is you are better off getting the package for 50 quid the residential package than gettign the business package ,

    I am just wondering if any one else has goten the business package and if it is any good or not ,

    just trying to get as much insight into this as possible

    You will get close to a 512k connection most of the time. You will also get this (more or less) with any of the 'capped' RADSL services like the IOL one and Eircom 'starter' although these have lower caps.

    I switched from 'Solo' to 'Starter' and did not notice any difference in speeds. I'm not a heavy downloader so the loss of 2 gigs in the cap did not bother me. The same will probably be true for IOL broadband at under 50 euros where you get 5 gig cap as opposed to 6 gigs on 'solo' for 107 euros.

    Pings are much lower on the RADSL services.

    sReq you got it in one :)

    Its cheaper, better value and better for gaming.
    Netsource is uncapped but your pings will suffer.

    Its s shame we cant get the best of everything but if we did we'd probably be living in mainland europe somewhere.

    Best of the Best dsl service utek would have to be Esat BTs Business Package..


    No download limit
    Interleaving Turned off (very ****ing low pings - see the ping times thread in broadband forum)
    512k / 256k


    Dear though something like 100 + per month...

    Supposed to be excellent though..
