Indigo Server Server Stuff

K Lads,

Theres a few new years resolutions here. Theres too much of this f eckin crap on the servers lately an I'm gonna put a stop to it (on the indigo servers anyway!!).

I've given the RCON password to a couple of ppl and will do so over time to whom I consider non-demanding fair minded individuals. These guys, upon logon to the server, will get ops and proceed to kick ppl who infringe on the game playing efforts of others. If youre a nice guy - like 97% of you - theres no problems - we'll all get on, have a game and a couple of laughs too. But the 3% of ppl who abuse other players will not be tolerated. You guys know who you are. I also agree with another post here about a player using a bot! Gonna do something about that too.... PPl who when get killed and respond with "Gey/Fluke" and whatever else crap - automatically kick them. Nps.

To this end I've banned a player - Crash - from the servers, after complaints from players and watching a demo. So lads if this f ecker turns up - kick at will. This guy is a real abusive muppet and to those who kick him - have the pleasure in sleeping soundly in your beds every night

This is a warning to the rest of the muppets out there - any crap whatsoever and youre off for a week. Any mouthing on IRC and its two weeks.

Oh yeah - the members of the Sheryl Crowe Admiration Clan (SCAC) automatically receive ops.. lol

If anyone else has some further thoughts - let me know. Hopefully Suds might agree with me here and implement the same on the iol servers.

hhhmmm another blatent abuse of power from the old folk in the community. I of course dont want to play with muppets. BUT what gives you guys (server admins and irc ops) the right to say who plays and who not. The server admins have a right to who they let play on the server. What you dont have a right to do is carry such arguments to irc. This is true for a couple of reasons. 1 irc and quake are different got a problem in quake settle it through quake dont stop that person using irc as it is a seperate service which you dont own. So yeah sure kick on servers for muppetry. But what about irc if its a family computer that means that other members of that family cant go onto irc even if they dont play quake.

STOP AND THINK THIS STUFF THROUGH. And not make such egotistic changes becuase you are currently ****ed off

Ops in #quake can only ban an individual for #quake and not from irc, so if they dont play quake they are not affected by another member of the familys muppetry.

But that said its a fair point and i think you will notice that bans a regularly lifted after a short period incase someone else happens to gets the same dynamic ip when a muppet has logged off.

However i have not seen much spill over from the server to #quake except for muppets coming from the server slagging each other, do u have a specific example you can share?

I have a few nice screenies that will suffice as all the evidence I need to boot certain in-duh-viduals for both abusive behaviour AND cheating (I've seen a bot in action too). It got to a stage a few weeks ago when I could only play after about 11 at night, when all the kiddies were safely in bed and I didn't have to listen to all this yer/gay moaning. I'm not about to let a few underage muppets screw with a game I love to play. This is the last warning I will give. Me and Sheyrl are gonna kick ass. Time to sort stuff out...
