    From my source in Spain:

"Arsenal have offered Kluivert 4 million Euros a year for three years. His sister was the messenger/courier...

    Riquelme is up for sale.

Zaragoza have made an offer for the Espanyol striker, Tamudo...

Walter Samuel has agreed to move to Madrid, but Valdano also has a meeting arranged with Milito and agent tomorrow afternoon.

Kluivert will be keen to go if Barca do what they are threatening to do and cut his wages by 50% from 6 million Euros to 3 million Euros a season.
    "

I'm still waiting to hear if he knows anything of the Milan Baros to Real Zaragoza story which Liverpool have yet to deny.

So who are Barca going to be replacing all these players with?

Barca are trying to sign Roy Makaay they also offered Kluivert in an exchange deal for Aimar - Kluivert wasn't too impressed when he found out...

    Latest update:
"Bugsy will be signing for the mancs sometime next week - that comes from soneone inside Barca. Barca are trying to sign his brother...

Tayfun has left Real Sociedad and signed for two years at Espanyol.

    Makaay is talking to Barca.

Barca have offered Kluivert in a straight swap for Aymar. PK didn't know anything about it and was not very happy as of 14.00 today.
    "

    Oh and Bugsy is Ronaldinho.

    News this morning:

I can now confirm what many of you already know - Fat Boy Viduka is talking to Barcelona. He received a personal call from Frank Rijkaard last week asking if he was available and what his options were. He has until Friday morning to accept the club's offer.

Madrid, who own half of Samuel Et'o are not keen on letting him join the PL - according to one of my sources. They want him to stay in the Liga but with one of the minor teams.

Glasgow have not paid an outstanding payment on Arteta. They have five more days to clear the payment. My sources at Barca say that it's very, very likely that the player will return to Spain.

Athletico Madrid and Barca are setting up a swop - Madrid want Dani, Riquelme or Motta, Barca want Luis Garcia and Fernando Torres. For the moment el "Niño" will stay at Athletico...but Riquelme looks like he'll be going...

Still haven't found out who placed the news about the Baros loan to Zaragoza.

Wednesday is the date of the meeting between Patrick Kluivert's agent Sigi Lens, and the club. Barca will formally announce that they will not pay his bonus and rise, agreed under the ex-president, Joan Gaspart, and that they expect PK to take a 35% cut in his basic salary and a 15% cut in his "image fees".

Rustu should be unveiled as a Barca player today.

The background to the Raul story is in the "Vincente del Bosque given marching orders..." thread.

After Raul was told that he could leave the club for half of his buy out clause, Man Utd put in a bid which would have involved Raul putting up the rest of the money. Madrid turned down the offer and Raul's agent made a statement that Raul would not leave the club.

From what I can gather, yesterday’s meeting between Kluivert’s agent, Sigi Lens, Sandro Rosell, Xavier Pérez farguell and Txiki Bergiristain did not go too well.

Barcelona have given Kluivert a 48 hour deadline to declare if he stays in the club or not. The club’s sporting director, Bergiristain also let it be known that Kluivert’s buy out clause, currently standing at 1.8 million Euros will rise once more to 30 million Euros on July 24, when Barcelona enforce one of the contract’s clauses.

The meeting lasted less than an hour. The Barcelona directors think that Sigi Lens was leading them up the garden path when he declared upon his arrival that he had been unable to contact his client. Lens stated that Kluivert was on holiday and did not know about Barcelona’s conditions.

Bergiristain later said “We’re all asking why Lens hasn’t been able to get in touch with the player….it’s difficult to believe…maybe it’s a manoeuvre, but we have to take his word for it…”

Bergiristain also stated that the meeting had been “purely informative”. The club repeated what they had told Lens by letter, that Barcelona will not pay the 4.6 million Euro bonus stated in Kluivert’s contract and that his buy out clause has dropped to 1.8 million Euros.

The club are very surprised that Lens arrived yesterday without a counter offer or conditions. He merely stated that he couldn’t contact Kluivert and that the player would not accept a pay cut. Barcelona want Kluivert to stay, Rijkaard insists that the player will be a cornerstone of his project, but the club will not pay more than three million Euros a season.

After noting that Lens had nothing to say, the club then gave him 48 hours to declare if Kluivert would stay or not.

As I said yesterday PK is getting a lot of pressure from his partner to stay in Catalunia.

I’ve now been told that the club know that Kluivert has four firm offers from “Big” Premier league clubs.

I know that Man Yoo and Arsenal are two of them

"The attitude of Kluivert's agent is improper. They should have remembered that they are they are negotiating with a no-nonsense Board and club, with an entity that is more than one hundred years old..." said Laporta.

"How can people who have made a lot of money because of Barcelona, not treat the Board with due respect?"

    Now the best bit....

"If he comes again to speak about important matter, without having contacted his client...."

    Wait for it....

"I will personally tell him that he should find out what his client wants before coming to me..."

    What an anticlimax....

    Methinks

    Now the spin

The Barcelona president stated that he was "convinced that we will make a strong team, but we cannot afford to rush into things nor soend immoral aounts of money on signings. Today I spoke to Rosell and Begiristain and I told them: 'We have the whole month of July to make decisions. let's not get nervous. We'll take our own direction when and weher we want. There are top class players that want to join. We've even had agents telling us that their clients haven't signed for other teams because they are waiting for us..."

In other words Barcelona are in deep .....

Laporta then explained the reasoning behind Rijkaard's appointment:

"First and foremost I signed him because he's a nice person..."

Well, that's that then, we won't win the Liga but we'll get full page reports in Hola Magazine...

"he also ready and prepared. I've told you more than once, that for me he was the best option as coach..."

What a season I will have

More news from Spain - looks tlike Real are gooing to make a killing from the Beckham signing.
Chelsea, Arsenal, Man yoo and Newcastle are the four PL clubs who have made offers to PK.

Unless Barcelona do something miraculous....my mate will be getting off the tube near the Barbican looking for a infamous bar soon....

PSG have rejected a 25 million Euro bid from the Mancs for Bugsy...the fact that Madrid have offered them 40 million if he waits until next year has nothing to do with the mancs failure.

Barca are close to signing Rafael Marquez, the mexican defender at Monaco, it all depends on whether Valencia accept barca's offer of 8 million Euros and Luis Garcia for Ayala and Vincente.

Laporta is very, very angry with Kluivert...

Sevilla FC have signed Dario Silva from Malaga and the sensation in Uruguay German Hornos....Wey Hey!!! Let's see if my home team can win something this year.

    Now then - the FV.

When Zidane signed for Madrid his number 5 shirt sold 300 copies on the first day.

Ronaldo's number 11 sold 2.000 copies in seven hours, the club had to have more printed as they had calculated that an intial run of 1,500 would cover demand.

Beckham's 23 sold 8,000 in seven hours at the three official shops. At 78 Euros a shirt.
