I just came on here to post the shock news.
    May God help his family.

Foe played under manager harry Redknapp while at West Ham.

Redknapp said: "You couldn't meet a nicer, more fantastic person than Marc Foe.

"He was a special boy - I just can't believe it."

Came on to post the news too....

Im shocked - still can't comprehend it all.....

Yep may he rest and peace, im sorry to see a talented player go out like this...

It's absolutely unbelievable. Teletext reckoned he died of a heart attack - he was 28 mind you - and football365 said that initially it was believed he swallowed his tongue, but no details have been released about his death.

Got to say it was a major shock!

Wow, this has really upset me, I have always admired him as player and have read a lot of interviews with him and he seemed like a pretty decaint person.

I think I shall pray for his family, especially his children.
Who would have thought at 28 one of Africa's greatest living players would have collapsed on the pitch?

Wow, damn... I don't know what to say. The man was a very talented player, he was scoring goals for fun at City last year. He was nearly a United player at one stage in his carreer too. I'm sure he'll be sorely missed by his family mainly and the football world.

    R.I.P. Marc-Vivien Foe.

I can't believe it. Didn't hear it until this morning when I saw the picture on the front page of the paper in the shop. I walked out in disbelief.

The lad was a great footballer and according to people he knew was a nice guy as well. Such a tragedy.

    Its a total shock,

Marc Viven Foe was testement to the skill and professionalism that has arisen from the african nations during the last 10 years.

    Rest In Peace

Marc was surley one of the greatest footballers to come out of Africa. He seemed to be nothing short of an absolute professional , I remember when United almost signed him and then he broke his leg. He must have been devastated at the time but picked himself up to eventually make his dream move to the premiership. First time around wasn't a great sucess but he had a great season with Man City last season scoring a fine number of goals for them from midfield.

Once again it just shows you all the money , fame and fortune aren't worth a f*** , when your time is up it's up .

You might as well enjoy yourself while you can .

May God look after his soul and comfort their family in their grief.

    R.I.P. Marc Vivien Foe .

The image of him collapsing on the pitch was a harrowing experience that will stay with me for a long time. It doesn't seem right, God must have different plans for him.

    Doesn't seem right, exactly.

It shows how we should all live life. If a man at the peak of fitness can pass away like that. It show how fragile we all are.

RIP Mark Vivian Foe. My you rest in Peace

I still can't believe it. I was watching the game last night but had to leave to play in the semi finals of our local 7-a-side tournament. Found out by text after the game. I was in total shock. From what everybody who managed or played with him said, he was a lovely, bubbly character who got along with everyone on and off the pitch. R.I.P. Marc-Vivien.

The final of our tournament is on this Sunday, I'm going to ask both teams to wear black armbands as a mark of respect.

I was listening Matt Cooper on the Last Word a short time ago suggesting that the final should'nt be played...I'd have thought all invoved would want the final to go ahead in Foes' memory.

who was actualy watching the match?
when it happened, everyone thought he had only taken a knock and was unconcious.(well thats what it seemed to me) Everything went on as normal. I was certain that i had seen the medics trying to resuscitate him but was like "no, it couldn't be that serious". Then i heard at the start of the france game that he had died. Christ that was a shock. Poor Guy. I feel very sorry for his family. Tradegy for football in general

well it defintely isn't a heart attack but his wife said he was suffering from dysentry before the game he should never have played.:(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,164 ✭✭✭Space Coyote

He was suffering from dysentry and gastric problems aswell. He shouldn't have been allowed play. Also the manager wanted to substitute him as he and the medic noticed Marc was slowing down in the game but he refused to leave the pitch. Very sad.

BTW did any of yis see the picture of Marc on the front page of the Irish tabloids ? Absolutely disgraceful. The editors should be ashamed of themselves.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,148 ✭✭✭Ronan|Raven

Aye the pictures were completly tasteless then again what can ya expect from the likes of the Sun. They do enjoy going for the shocking.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,432 ✭✭✭Steve_o

Him not wanting to come off shows how passionate he was bout his football. He will be missed by Lyon who he was to join next season and who he played with two seasons ago, Man City who he played with last year and of course Cameroon who he has played with since 1996. May he rest in peace.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,174 ✭✭✭✭kmart6

He should of come but didnt shows he loved the game. The football world did not deserve to lose such an extrodinary talent. As for those pictures its a disgrace the have no respect for him or his family.
Marc Viven Foe may he rest in peace
