    Mcgrath
    Moran
    Irwin

    Giles
    Brady
    Keane
    Duff

    Aldrige
    Robbie Keane

To be fair its ot much of an arguement!
Its not like we have had a plethora of superb Irish players.
But, for the sake of arguement.

    Bonner (circa '88)

    Irwin O'Leary Moran Sheedy

    McGrath Giles Keane

    Brady

    Duff Keane

Yep, i'd say bonner ahead of given, and o'leary must be in there. I'd say Frank Stapleton with robbie up top though.

Noel Cantwell, Jonnie Carey etc etc

60 or 70 years of players just written off?

people played footie before Jack Charlton took over you know :)

If your playing 4-4-2 the midfield 4 has to contain Giles, Keano and Brady..that last spot will be hotly contested. I would pick Ray Houghton as a) I know him in real life and b) he scored the 2 most importat goals in history!!

Yes and they qualified for nothing and usually got beaten,so therefore were never really proven on the big stage in a big international tournment unlike the players that most people have picked.

"Best ireland team" is to pick the players that perform the best in an ireland shirt not just great players who played brillantly for there clubs but were crap at internationals.

I was waiting for a post like this......

Kiely? surely Gary Kelly, formally of Bury would be better
Morris was decent..... Terry "the greyhound" Phelan might edge out Harte

and Jeez... where is Alan Kernaghan?

Kiely more for his early retirement than his skills.

Morris was ****ing pants. Good call on Phelan.

I can't believe I forgot about Big Alan.

Eddie McGoldrick and Bernie Slaven are gods.

Everytime I see Santas little helper in the Simpsons I'm reminded of Terry :)
