I have seen several people getting caught out or come very close to getting caught out when they see a much faster Athlon than they have for peanuts. They buy it and then find out it doesn't work.

If buying an AMD Processor for your motherboard check here first

This page allows you to specify the chip you want, specify the form factor of the board, and specify the manufacturer of your motherboard.

It will then give you a list of all the compatible motherboards by that manufacturer for the chip specified.

Ensure your motherboard is on the list before buying the chip.
Check the revision too, there can be multiple versions of motherboards like KT3 Ultra and KT3 Ultra2

Maybe this should be added to one of the stickies or something, for a while anyway.
