UTV Ethernet BB Option

I've spoken to UTV and confirmed that its possible to go with my own Ethernet ADSL modem solution, rather than their default USB option.

This means a reduction in the installation fee from 99 euro down to 69 euro - which is quite decent of them I thought. I will certainly be taking them up on this offer, but reckoned it was worth letting others know that you are not limited to the USB modem / installation fee if you would prefer an Ethernet ADSL modem solution.

Yep, sent them a mail this morning about it and got a reply back within 20 mins confirming the reduction of the connection fee. Excellent service.

brillant. although i was never a customer of utv, i will be now. they realise that a lot of people dont want to be stuck with a modem even if you don't need it, and as a result lower the price by a fair bit. another sure sign that the ppl at utv have their nuts screwed on the right way.

All I've got to do now is figure out *which* ADSL ethernet modem to buy, and where to buy it from :)

Now if only they would increase their Cap to 10gb.. then i would be going with them... Ah well Apart from that they sound great!!

I do not believe the cap of 5gb will be implemented for people unless they abuse the system.

UTV have proven themselves already in the market with their flat rate / off peak dialup package, and their service/support - proven that they can listen to the punters and give them what they want.,

I believe UTV have this clause in their contract to protect themselves, and to enable them to clamp down on the 24/7 warez monkeys who will ruin the service for others on the same contention (48:1) zone.

Given a choice of going with netsource - which has no d/l limit but endless problems with service, and response, due to warez monkeys... or UTV with a decent customer service and punter focused offering.. .I'm taking UTV for sure.

I read on the UTV site that they will be 50:1

So thats 2 more users before they upgrade the bandwidth.

Its small - but probably how they are 2 euros less per month or whatever..

Nope, it is 48:1, all the RADSL products are the same as they are controlled by Eircom.

The 50:1 is probably just a typo when they copied the FAQ from their Northern Ireland broadband product which is 50:1
