It's an urban legend, no one actually has it they all just know a friend of a friend of a friend who got it installed. In Tallaght.

ntl broadband i assume?...i'm in tallaght and can get digital tv but not the broadband and despite numerous calls and emails over the last six months to try and find out when it might be available they don't know nor do they know anyone else who knows when or if it will be.
    Oh well.

emm - not wanting to break your bubble of ntl - hating there, but a few people on boards, myself included, actually have the service.

busy_mouse, there is a list on the faq page on ntl.ie of where the service is available.

And its not available in Bray.

don't knowabout the others but don't hate ntl else i wouldn't have their digital tv. Just wish they had a clue about further expansion beyond lucan(i think thats where they're doing at the moment)
The rollout plan of our broadband internet service is currently only available in certain parts of West Dublin in and around the Dublin 24, 22, 16, 12, 6, 6W and Lucan areas. You will need to live in an area where ntl have built a cable network and offer its cable services. In order to get more information on our roll out plan and get an indicative date of when the service will be available in your area, please call 1800 923 005.

They certainly weren't able to give me an indicative date,
and seeing as their broadband is now only 20 quid a month...well beats the hellout of everyone at that price.

Anyone know what areas of tallaght its available?

i have cable in tallaght, balrother estate end of things. a friend of mine in kilnamanagh (sorry, probably wrong spelling) is getting it soon. 2 of my mates in glenview have it and a mate of mine in knockline has it too. its a good service. im getting 80k/s download speed!!! and thats average.

I'm in hazelgrove(beside killinarden) out the blessington rd, its a new estate so i would've imagined ntl might have connected this to their existing tallaght network whenever they wired the place up. Guess not tho.

Damn you lotas :D I want NTL... feck it i live in Palmerstown and a friend of mine piloted the tests years ago (98 or so). It was a 1 way service at that time with 2 way on the way. It was great when he had it though :D Point is i hoped we would be the first to get the full service.. no such luck.

and just to rub salt in the wounds, a friend of mine had 1mb DSL and i was downloading stuff a LOT faster then him. eircom trial he was on at the time. he was maxing out at about 70 - 75k, where i was getting 80 - 85k. handy. they should be releasing it other places soon. probably. dont know though. they kind of rolled out the last group of places, D22, D6 and what ever others, secretly. they may be working on it in the back some where.

Its available in in Kingswood in Tallaght.
I used to have it last year but I got rid of it.

They just sent me a flyer saying that is it is €20 now. I might just get juiced up again!

it says on ntl's site that cable broadband is available where ever u can get digital tv and my sister lives in bray the same as me but different house and shes got the digital must ring them and ask for the cable and quote what it says on their site

    Does it say that?
I have the full digital package and they seem fairly sure i can't get their broadband option.
Fairly sure it's not available in bray unfortunately :(

    Where does it say that?

It says something like "you must live in an area in which ntl has built a digital network"

That's not the same as "where digital TV is available"

    [EDIT] Found it:
Where and when will ntl's Always-On Broadband Internet service be available?

Digital network and digital TV are two different things. it states that the digital TV is available in 95% of their franchise area. Digital network is the network where they have run fiber optic cable. Digital TV can run though their normal network, but cable modem needs a 2 way network, ie their digital network.
