Probably a power cut has sent the digiboxes haywire (Happens all the time on the Castlebar deflector)

If deflector operators are going to source off Astra they should put a UPS on the digiboxes

what do you know! it is back working again !
But, could the deflecters rebroadcast BBC THREE etc if they are using English Sky Boxes ?

Of course they *could* but I don't think its very likely. Whoever was running the system would have to source another digibox (& ftv card before jul 10) to show it. the whole day until 7 you'd get the 'blue' sky screen. you could put another channel on there during the day (eg cbbc which finishes @ 7) but as there's no autoview listing to switch over to 3, i don't think it would be very practical to have to get someone to manually change the channel every single day.

You can use external widgets to preprogram channel changes and reset channel after power outages etc.

Its fairly unlikely that deflectors will carry BBC3 or 4 as theyre only licenced to carry four channels (although some carry TV3 as well)

what's happening with the Dunmore East transmitter tonight. Channel 4 seems to be turning on and off while the rest seem fine. BBC1 Wales is coming in crystal clear at the moment on ch. 69 thanks to no Channel 4 disrupting it :) are they moving it to a new frequency? i live in hope

:( no CH4 I wish it would come back. However CH5 on CH51 is coming in better than usual

Five on ch 51. where are you picking that up from. Dunmore East still have it on ch 59. i would love it if they moved Channel 4 to somewhere more convenient. BBC1 was there before they moved to ch 69. they were on ch 67 i think.

Channel 4 is also available on ch 22. i don't know if you can get a signal where you live but it's worth a shot if you're missing a programme

ch 22 is Channel 4 on my television at least. BBC1 comes through on ch 33 and ch 65. NI and London regions respectively

A friend of mine who hails from Tramore, which is served by this Dunmore East (Harristown) deflector, tells me that about 10 years ago the polarisation of it changed from horizontal to vertical (which it still is)
Out of curiosity why did this polarisation change take place?

Tony has some 'sub-deflectors' in operation, maybe johnnyq is on one of these?

Polarisation probably changed as all the main transmitters use horizontal, so there may have been more space, and less chance of interfering with rte by using vertical.

No, not on a sub deflector, however the other ch5 has stopped.
On good days I can get BBC etc from Devon & cornwall hence why the other freqs were mentioned

Channel 4 has gone from ch69 again. does anyone know what's going on?

does anyone know of a website which lists what deflector broadcasts what and on what frequency. whoever is broadcasting Channel 4 is taking the piss. they are now going through their favourite channels list and have been broadcasting BBC1 West instead all day. so now i am getting BBC1 NI and BBC1 West but no Channel 4:mad:
