Any chance of sorting out a sticky for reccommended tattoo and piercing studios based on boardsers reviews?
I'm planning on getting a second tatt over the next few months but I've heard very different things from different people about the various popular studios (Sacred Art, Celestial Ring, etc).

i was gonna get mine done in Zulu, back in November, seemed like a nice place, very friendly, they have dvd's and and x-box to entertain you while you wait and quite a good selection of styles.

    ehh...

    /me shrugs..

Lol, EU15 isn't expensive at all mate, especially if that includes the jewlery.
The only places I trust are Body Shock and Snake Bite.
I've actually heard Celestial Ring are good. The staff are experienced at least. The only reason I wouldn't trust them as much as the others is because they pierce underaged people. And that can be risky thing to do.

Snakebite also will pierce underaged people.Whether this is done unknowingly is another thing.
To me this is unprofessional especially in a business that is not regulated by anyone yet is seeking to be regulated.
Paddy in body shock is the most professional place Ive ever seen.Miss Fantasias is also fairly good/clean and my wifes got all her piercings done there.
    Richie.

As for Tattoos----Brendans on Talbot street(If hes still there)was always one of the best places to get Inked in Dublin.
I got 2 done on the one on Capel street and they were always excellent.
Now I use my mates place and Ive no problems and anyone Ive recommended has never complained either.

Nah they don't. They won't pierce anyone under 18 without parental consent. i.e. they have to be there in person. Also even with your parents permission you still need to be over 16 and they won't do anything too "extreme".
I was actually 14 when I got my first piercing, it was in there.
I pretended to be 16 (I looked it anyway) and my brother acted as a parent.
Normally they wouldn't do that, just my brother is friends with them.

Yer right. Snakebite are probably the strictest about age and ID. I've seen blatantly underage girls getting their tongues pierced in bodyshock.

My personal faves are Celestial ring and then Snakebite, bodyshock are also good but a lot of people complain of an elitest attitude when they go there.

Now I havnt checked this for myself because i've never been in the place but it was mentioned to me a while back that Zulu only actually has one experienced artist and that most of the work is done by apprentices... i know you have to practice but not on me thanks... can anyone verify this as truth?

For Tats, I'd recommed Dragon Studio [used to be Bren's] on Talbot Street.

I got mine done there!! They're all very experienced there & the place is amazingly clean [smells like a hospital]!!

My Girlfriend and all my mates have got theirs done there too & the all recommend it anytime any1 asks.

Here's the craic: I'm planning to get a tattoo drawn for me, one I've been thinking about for a few years now. I'm going to have a look around some of the popular studios (and a few off the beaten track just in case) at some sample work by the resident artists to see whose style I like. What I want to know from experienced tattooees here is:

Where do you reccommend I look for this kind of tatt?
Who do you reccommend I approach to design it?
What are the chances of the artist re-using that design in the future? (obviously I'd like it as individual as possible)

The design would be about 3x4 inches on my stomach.

    Cheers folks!

Snake Bite only have trainee staff, once they are trained they sack them as they have o pay them more. My sister had her tongue done there. They did it off center and through the tongue crooked. She had to get it taken out and redone somewhere else.

I would second this vote. Brens is completely clean and they did a damn good job on my tat.

I got my first tattoo in sacred Art many years ago, it wasn't Karen, but the design was very basic & it went fine, however I wasn't allowed anybody to hold my hand :(

I had my tongue pierced in Metalmorphosis back when the lads came over to set it up. I pulled at it through the healing period & it went off centre, & when I went back to have the bar changed, I was offered free repiercing if I wanted to have it centred again. However the guy who works there now has a habit of coming on to anybody who hops onto his bench in a skirt, & isn't terribly professional...

I got both nipples done by Glen in Adonis, really friendly, relaxes you, but completely professional. Doesn't mind you pestering him for aftercare & other advice by email afterwards!!!

Glen wasn't in so I got my navel done by Ken in Celestial Ring, it was fine, apparently I've got tough tummy skin?! Not an especially noteworthy experience, but no problems...

For my last two tattoos I went to Classic Ink, I just loved their approach, I felt comfortable, & a nice job was done. However, both tattos have blotches in the centre, they're on the tops of my legs & I don't know whether it's just the way the skin there heals, or if it was caused by the tattooing... but would still recommend them, if only for the fact that the guy on reception (sorry can't remember his name) is lovely & puts you at ease (****e music though!!)

id recommend that place in stephens green for piercings, staff in there are cool - especially that chick - shes deadly. ive heard bad things bout the quality of their tattoos, but they seem cheaper.

i got my tat done in the mint (i think it was called) just off henry st at the top near the gpo. tat was good quality but lookin back place looked kinda grotty, was expensive too!

    luke:)
