Just reading a review in What Hi-Fi of Paces new hard disk recorder for terrestrial digital TV in the UK. It has a twin tuner to allow recording of one channel while watching another and a 20GB drive just like Sky+.

The reviewer gave it 5 stars and said the only drawback was that the EPG only gave listings for one day but an 8 day guide is due early next year.

With an initial price of £350 and no monthly sub surely this will hit the Sky+ sales. It may even force Sky to reduce or do away with the monthly sub.

If the Pace is for FTV only and Sky+ covers everything then Sky+ really has nothing to fear.

    er....
Pace MAKE the Sky+, it is a Pace.

The other PACE box IS NOT for Satellite, but DTT/Freeview, that only a few enthusists with big aerials can get in Ireland.

The Sky+ won't work at all on Freeview (which is not the same thing at all as Satellite FTV).

If ITV go FTA next year then a "Satellite FTV" PVR that doesn't need "rental" to make it go at all, as Sky+ does, EVEN IF YOU DON'T subscribe to Sky, will be a very good idea.
