Popped up Perch - All new Pike fun

A new method of deadbait fishing was invented and successfully tested yesterday. Its a cross between deadbating and popped up "other stuff". Thought I'd share :)

Rig up a perch on a deadbait rig as normal, and use a ledger weight about 2 foot from the bait. An old Styrofoam pike float was shaved with a knive and the shavings were inserted into a dead perch's mouth. There was much trial and error, dip em in and watch, to get him floating properly. Once he floats cast it to the desired location, and leave it there. This gives the result that no matter what way the bait is taken and the pike goes line is taken from you, unlike normal deadbating where the pike can come twoards you with the line giving you a load of slack. Loosen your clutch, sit back and enjoy the sun. :)

This prooved successful yesterday evening in Westmeath for a good fight on a 5/6 lb Pike :)

Pike was photographed and returned to the water alive, just in case you were interested.
