ok, i went to p45.net, to check out their glb forum. to my shock and surprise i found that they dont have one. so i decided to check out why, i went to the suggestions forum and they basically told me that there is no need for one as they dont have the demand for one. and it would be seen to be akin to segregation.

p45.net reasons for no glb forum

i have to say, my god, what a load of boll*x.

I wonder if it will turn out that they have an LGB board just not a GLB board ;)

Is it a good idea to introduce yet another GLB board into the market? We already have the UCC QBoard (if it gets back up and running) for casual chat, gaycork.com for casual chat and issues, and this board for issues. Although it would be good to have a quality all-ireland discussion board for general chat, don't think we have anything near the equivalent of gaycork in Dublin.

Boards.ie agonised for rather a while over a GLB forum before starting this one. So far I think it's worked out fairly well, but that's not to say it would on every forum.

This is the only forum system I use which has a GLB board, and probably one of the few where there's demand for and interest in one. In general one would hope that most people have things other than (and more important than) their sexuality to discuss :)

i agree, if we only had our sexuality to discuss then our conversations would be fairly dull and boring. but i cant help but feel disappointed by the fact that they dont have a glb forum, considering they attract a large cross section of the community.

I think it's worked out better than most of the doomsayers predicted for sure - mostly thanks to reasonably applied moderation and a good bunch of posters, which is why it probably wouldn't work on other sites with a different "ethos" or community spirit - or a different set of posters.

Give ourselves a pat on the back :p

Boards is one of my most used sites. It hasa GLB/LGB forum after much campaigning. I don't like the "issues" bit though to the name and theres more a social thing going on here right now which is all fine and good.

I don't find the use for another lgb forum on another site covering the same things really.

Never suggested it was. It makes me wonder why you felt another GLB Board was needed.
