Does anyone actually take these ads seriously? Personally i find it hard to earnestly watch these ads without thinking, what a complete waste of money. My personal favourite would have to be the one about the barbeque.

I won't be able to look at him ever again.

Then when I came back from hospital my mother gave me ecoli, and then she cashed in and did another add.

For those of you watching on UTV please read this with an Northern Irish Accent agus do gach doine ag feachaint ar TG4, as gealige le do thoil (litir?)

I know what you mean, the voices are so "shamed"! The message is important (no-one should under-estimate a really bad tum) but the campaign is z-movie bad.

    Mike.

Agreed Derek when I first saw them I thought it must be some sort of church compo information ad or something. But food poisoning?

Firstly IMO these people are most likely actors.I mean, where does the health board find a load of people who are bad cooks? At the I gave me mates salmonella counselling centre?WTF?

Secondly, dont you think that if you and lets say 5 friends went to a barbeque on Sunday, didnt drink too much, ate meat that you thought was a bit undercooked, and woke up next morning running to the toilet after an underestimated fart soiled your sheet, that just maybe the 5 of you could conclude that you got food poisoning at your pals barbie? So whats with the blurred faces?

And thirdly would most people avoid a friend who accidently gave them food poisoning.FFS,I still eat in the takeaway that gave me minor food poisoning a few years back from a gone off burger bun.

These ads are a load of sh1te.

I wouldn't mind if those morons had the money for these adds but there are health board cut-backs all over the country and a serious shortage of nurses.

The ads are plain f*cking terrible. What kind of people are going to feel such terrible, counselling-esque shame about poisioning their friends and family.

Personally, I'd be rather proud. Teach them to eat my sh*te cooking!

    LOL

Thats the only word I can use to describe them!

Why are their faces blurred?? I mean its not like that killed someone or got brought to court!

"I shudder everytime I hear the word 'picnic'."

I was rather depressed the day I first saw this ad, and this line cheered me up no end. No, really, it's hilarious!

Agreed its probably one of the funniest ads on television at the mo!

And for anybody who's interested it was produced by Ogilvy & Mather.

(There's a write-up about it on pg26 of last sunday's Times in Culture)

A little off topic, but has anyone seen the Illiteracy Gremlins ads? Where this guy has to fill out a form, but he can't read or write and starts imaging this gremlin popping up slagging him off? In the end he has enough and runs away screaming. Like the salmonella thing it's publicity of a serious subject that guaranteesno-one who sees the ad will be able to think of the problem again without wetting themselves.

    Net result: hilarity. Wheeee!

Ads are terrible but there is a reason for the blured face.

Its to highlight how bad and wel embaressed (worred?) you might feel if you were to gve someone food poisoning. Its not to actually protect any ones identity. (afaik)

Still fairly bad ads but i guess its worked if ppl are discussing em. Doesnt matter how bad the ad is as long as the message gets accross.

And they're not as bad as the ones before them with the strange cartoon character running around shouting "safe food" in an Asian voice and telling people to keep the cat off the kitchen table.

They are a joke, an INSULT ! they make me embaressed to be human

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,081 ✭✭✭BKtje

tusky you must get embarresed fairly easily, like errr when you errr have to take a piss. Thats embaressing too ya know
