    Anyone remember these ?
Was watching Mall Rats and remembered them also that I could never figure the bloody things out.

Was I the only one ?

They're still around, I seen one the other day in some newspaper supplement, a TV guide or something.

And no, I could never get the fecking things to work. And yes, I know it's a sailboat.

It took me years of frustration to figure out that I couldn't see the images as I have amblyopia (a lazy eye) and hence don't have stereoscopic vision. :(

For the record, here's one person who did get magic eye to work!
I have a whole book of it, it's really cool as you see the pix in crystal sharp resolution.
THey still print them in some newspapers but they tend to suck coz of poor print quality.

It took me a bloody age but eventually I discovered a technique that worked for me. I may well have the same book as simu - filled with underwhelming horses, sailboats (;) ) and trees.

A very clever idea though. I tried to track some down recently on the internet with a view to printing them off a giving them a whirl.

The closest I found was something purporting to be a 'magic eye' but using ascii characters. Unfortunately it was a hoax, and cut to a flashing image of an enormously fat woman's arse which I had to ALT-F4 to get rid of. Bloody embarassing at work!

My book had cool 3-d cubes, waves and even a globe.
Hmm, it would be cool if they used such pictures in maths books for geometry, although it appears that many ppl can't get magic eye to work for them

There's a program that lets you make them with jpegs on your computer.
I remember a thread about it somewhere on Boards, and I'm nearly 100% sure Stereo Steve started it. Anyway, I could never get these to work either but then I figured out a way somehow. Actually I think it was going on the advice of said thread and once you know how to see one you can see them all.
