Vice City final mission

How the hell do I beat the "Keep your friends close..." mission? I have 100 health and 100 armour and a bunch of guns (MP5, shotgun, assault rifle, grenades). Its easy enough to waste the mafia guys at the safe at the start of the mission, but as soon as I start chasing after Lance, I get wasted rapidly. Anyone got any tips?

And the easy way to waste Lance and Sonny is to use a rocket launcher

Do the pizza boy missions to get max health up to 150, and vigilante missions to increase max armour to 150.

I found the SPAS shotgun comes in handy when you want to destroy a whole bunch of goons. 8 shots before reload and each one kills in one hit apart from the boss characters

(Lance etc.)

And go down to the health every time you think you're even nearly low on health.

I presume you are playing the PS2 version, cos with the PC version this whole end bit is super easy with the joy of a mouse.

The last level was quite easy on the PS2 as well especially compared to some of the other last few missions. The mouse maybe good for aiming but walking driving and especially the helicopters are hell with the keys.

Helicopters yeah, quite annoying, but walking and driving were fine. You dont usually need analog control for walking in a game anyway, unless it was some sort of walking simulator.

I don't understand how 8 buttons and a d-pad tranform into about 30 keys on a keyboard.

That mission was very easy for me, on the PS2. I had about a million quid in the safe so I just left the mafia do their thing (for crooks they're not too quick at stealing for some reason!) and wandered upstairs.

With silly weapons like the minigun and rocket launcher it's no problem - I prefer the python though. And of course there's health and armour at the room at the bottom of the stairs and in the bar if you need it..

It actually is the PC version that I'm stuck in. Don't have a rocket launcher or minigun to play with I've been driving around building up some extra cash so as I can ignore the mafia guys robbing the safe (only had about 60k in it originally). Will try it again shortly

Here's how i did it, and i hope this might help.

The mafia guys keep coming after safe for a while. Stand behind the desk or something and just keep wasting them. Use the python, very effective. There is one with 200 bullets or so by the door way. Then the game will tell u to get lance.

RUN out the office and go left, to the far end on the top level. Lance should be straight across from you. Shoot him and any mafia guys withhim. As you do this he falls back. Head to the roof after him shooting him twice or so has he turns to face you.

On the roof RUN up to the heli pad. There is 100 health up there which will help. Throw grenades over the edge onto the lance and his buddies. You have a good chance of killing him and his buddies with grenades. This might take some practice. If he still isn't dead the python will finish the job.

After this you need to head to the basement to get armour and health. Once you have done this head back up to your office. A cut sequence will play and you now must fight Sonny. Head back to the stairs in the far right corner of the floor and go downstairs. You can use the rocket launcher, which you really should get, to kill sonny without him shooting at you. You need to aim near to the pillars and in fromt of the main door. You should be looking down the corrider towards the door on the ground floor. This may take a few shoots but does work.

When you get out onto the roof immediately run to your left. There's one of those pills that slows everything down. This helps a lot. Waste the two guys that are really close to you, and then shoot the explosive barrel beside the others. It'll knock lance to the ground too and give you time to get over to him and blow that mofo away. Might have been a rocket laucher I was using tho a not a barrel, I'm not sure. There's a rocket launcher in the motel directly south from sunshine autos anyway, just of the road leading into the airport complex.

Easy way to kill Sonny is to run back up the steps on the right of the office, then down the stairs towards the health, ammo, guns etc. Then come along the ground floor hallway so that you come out to the left of Sonny, pick him off with grenades or the M16.

Easy.

I finished Vice City last night on the PC. I used the mini gun for the last mission, and cleared it on my first attempt. Some of the preceding missions were more challenging.

Actually, I still haven’t beaten GTA3. Now that’s a difficult game!

On a lesser note I haven't beaten it myself. But only cos I only got it three weeks ago and played it for 3 hours total.:D

The last mission was one of the easiest!!

I used the mini gun.,. nothing mini about it but it kicks ass. I ran after lance (changed weapon to run faster first) and killed him in the hallway he ran down.

A lot of you said you got him on the roof.. poor lance never got near the roof for me :ninja:

Just find the Junk yard place where the Patriot is kept, buy the chaingun over and over until you've maxed out... then spam the sh*t out of them... easy.

Tried that - there is no chaingun there to buy? Maybe that's cos I haven't done any of Phil's missions. Dunno even how to "activate" them.

I think they become activated after you've done "The job" mission, robbing the bank, for the Malibu club. I could be wrong though it's been a while since i've played it.

Another way to make it easier is to go out back of the house via the basement – and sneak around the front of the house, you will see a couple of limos with mafia guys getting out. If you destroy these no more henchmen will appear...

Bugger. I've been trying to beat that gimp in the car race part of that, still haven't managed it. Think I might try the rocket launcher way

Get minigun From Phils Yard. Hide behind desk, rip anyone a new asshole who comes through the door. After about 15-20 Guys stand at the doors to your office wait for lance to appear shoot his ass while hes talking. go bak in ur office kill any extra goons. Wen sonny Comes dont bother with his body guards jus go after him, Make sure ur Minigun has a butt load of Ammo, i had 500/2000 on my mini gun and i was fine. Do the Vigalante missions to get 150 armour, of u keep gettin stuck. Or if theres absoulty no hope, Use the cheats i guess. I have it for PC and the weapons cheats, Health and armour cheats dont seem to affect ur Rating Strange. But good luck And rip that Liberty City Punk a new Asshole.Game Complete

Ive tried the Rocket Launcher on Hilary and he apparently has an indestructable Car. The only way i beat him was to put Slo Motion on and race him then its so much easier and ure like a mile ahead of him by time u finish.

I thought that the Hilary car race was one of the easier car races. If you get in front of him before the waterfront you should be able to blitz him. Even if he is still in front the cops usually take him out for you. Theres another way and its to find the really fast bike on the track early on. Get out of your car and get on the bike. I you don't crash you should be able to beat him even though he gets a big head start when you get the bike.

Well I eventually beat Hilary and went on to complete "The Job" and Phil's missions. That mission back at the mansion is a piece of piss with the minigun

That race was hard, and I was losing til the last bend when the cops clipped him, I cut across the grassy bit where the police bribe is (just at the back of the club) and I just about beat him.
