Do ya know that if you're dyslexic you can't get into the special olympics??
So you walk up and say "sign me up."
And they say "how are you disabled?"
    And you say "im dyslexic."
And then they're like " You're not disabled enough"
    isn't that discriminating....?

It'd be like Carl Lewis entering the Paraolympics because he lost a finger.

I'm not well up on the regulations of the special olympics but I presume it has to be a disability that in someway inhibits your ability to perform the disipline which you are competing in? Dyslexia doesn't really fall into that category as far as I know.

In my mind it'd be the equivilant of claiming the right to compete in the special olympics because you're short-sighted.

Some aren't actually physical disabilities but mental ones....
    ie. dyslexia

Come on there should be a reading contest it would be a great...
    I think i'll start a petition... :p

Special Olympics is for the mentally handicapped, and I dont think dyslexia is considered a mental handicap.

Cant think of the word now....bah :/

Dyslexia is a learning disability not a mental handicap. So no, you wouldn't qualify for the entering the Special Olympics if that is your only disabilty - it's not the same thing at all.

The entire point is that there are some pro footballers and other pro atheletes that are dyslexic and there for that shows you that is why they cant enter.

    Some one close this.

All joking aside the special olympics seems to bring out the divisions between disabled and non-disabled people. The ads I mean, they're so fake.Society has a tendency to lie like that saying that everyone one is special. No one is special not me not you (especially you) not anyone. They try to make up for people's disabilities with pity because they themselves feel so bad. Pity won't make them feel better if anything it'll make them feel worse. This disillusioned attitude will just lead to a vicious cycle....
I really hate to see these types of divisions being created in society theres enough as there is.......

If you'rr really comitted to being in the special olympics then just have a fromtal lobotomy preformed. Any seedy doctor/guy on the street will do it for you.
