Has anyone tried the Atkin's Diet?

I'm thinking if trying it but what to know does it work? Is it healthy? and anything else I should know.

It's all a bit of a grey area as far as I can see...but there was a thread about it on boards a while back Link. I seemed to have been the last person to answer it...I'm wrong about how he died and he wasn't dead when I posted but he is now....:ninja: deadoralive.com

It gets results alright, (friends have lost a few stone on it) but as Fabritzo pointed out, there are people out there saying its damaging for the heart.

A low carbohydrate diet can't be good for you. There's nothing wrong with the high protein part though.

If you want to lose weight (ie fat) then excercising, doing some weightlifting and heading over to the Fitness board are the things to do.

I dunno dude that sounds like a lot of work. Especially that last bit.

This thread belongs on the Fitness board.

The Atkins diet has a lot going for it - it quite definitely gets results and the more research is done into it, the more it seems to be becoming accepted by the medical establishment.

It's a fair bit of work because it involves a very significant diet change and a good deal of specific food preparation if you fancy eating stuff that actually tastes good.

I did it for about a month and the weightloss was pretty good, but I just don't have time for the level of messing around with foodstuffs required. I'm on a plain old calorie counting diet now and it's slower, but much much easier.
