I know what you mean Solice, but there is something good about the variety of presenters every week, Deaton was good though.

the ratings for it have sky rocketed since angus dayton...i think its brilliant to have differant presenters.

specially when they had william hague in.

brucey should be a cracker tonight.

I've only seen it twice in the new format - those had Martin Clunes and Charlotte Church presenting. Clunes was bleedin' hilarious.

Agreed :) I pished myself when he was commenting on someone who had "a big ears and a cheesy grin" (Tony Blair?) then said "Don't knock it, it's a living" :D

Yeah, I think in the long term Deyton should be brought back but as someone said, the variety is a brilliant touch.

    It is what it's.

Did anyone see the one with Boris "something.or.other" can't think of his second name, but he's the young...ish conservative politician with the big mop of blonde hair. Now that was hilarious!!! He's actually been on as a guest quite a few times.

    B.

Thats Boris Johnson who edits the Spectator as well as being an MP
for the posh boating constitency of Henley-on-Thames. He brilliant no matter what he's at - always gives the impression he's just stumbled out of bed! :)

Ian Hislop and Paul Merton wanted Deayton to go as they felt he was
becoming an embarrasment to the programme after all how do you mock the rest of the world when you're a standing joke yourself? I think the curent format works a treat and I belive the BBC are keeping it
as it is. They'd be wise not to ask Ms Church back though - it helps to have been around long enough to vote.

    Mike.

Never watch it anymore jumped the shark when Deayton left and the nail in the coffin was Charlotte Church presenting next thing they'll be getting Ant and Dec.

its a lot funnier with rotating presenters - Bruce Forsythe was completly unsuitable for it, and thats what made it so funny. The look on Ian Hislop's face for most of the show was priceless.

they should get Angus Deaton in for a slot, although he'd get crucified :). that or the tub or lard...

No way, I thought that episode was great. I thought Church did a great job presenting. She's an intellegent girl.

I was really impressed by Hagues performance, he's actually quite witty.

I think I saw an episode where Jo Brand was presenting, she was hilarious.

I had stopped watching it after Deayton was axed. I did watch it last night however, and thought it was rather funny with Forsythe. As someone said earlier, he wasn't suited to the position but that made it all the funnier! :D

The end was hilarious. Sending Hislop to the European Parliament :D

It just seems far too scripted these days - You can almost hear them counting down their timings for their 'off-the-cuff' quips.

Forsyth Stole the show.Thankfully because Hislop and Merton have been acting like a pair of Internet Bullies with the Guest Presenters,Letting them know whose in charge. The change in format was like a breath of fresh air which was odd because Forsyth's been doing the same schtick for years,(bit like HIGNFY really).

Hislops soapbox rants are becoming a bore, and Mertons pithy interuptions are annoying and purile.

Should of scrapped the show at the end of the series that Deaton left.

    Totally agree.
    He was atrocious.

Brucie was funny, Church was too bad, after all they're following a script so you cant go wrong.

That guy from Armstrong and Miller (dunno which is which) was class. I would've like to have seen Clunes, Hague and Johnston.

Using so many surnames, I sound like Harry Enfield's Frank Doberman.

    Oi Hislop NO !!!

I thought Brucie did a great job , v. funny and he even had merton/hislop in histerics :D
