How is it that 512/256 dsl with 50:1 contention in the UK works with out a cap?

Why are Irish isp's forced to cap a similar service.

Another example, I just read that, in france that 1Mb is now being offered uncapped for €30.

Amocom once my big hope for BB.They are offering Business Solo package at 512k symetrical with 20:1 contention and a 5Gb cap.Why do they have a cap on a low contention product? But on a positive note they will only downgrade the service instead of charging ridiculous rates for going over cap.

i have my LOS with them next week, if they are all thats available to you, and you have to get broadband you have no other way but to put up with it?

im getting it for gaming, and i need that low ping, i wont go over the cap by gaming and i have to get broadband so im gonna get it if i pass the LOS test

lots of companys are introducing caps, however some are not, its just a continueing trend of irish ppl being ****ed over, making a bad situation worse basically

Well there's 50 million people living in the UK, and only 4 million living in ireland, so thats why broadband is alot cheaper over there (as with insurance etc etc).

I remember alot of English gamers having serious problems with BTO (BTs ADSL), very slow connections, bad pings, terrible downloads. I'm actually not sure if those problems are still exsist. They were quite serious tho, people reported it to watchdog afaik :)

Vac: Those problems have now been fixed in most cases.

Your argument about 50million there and 4 here isnt as valid as u may think. Norway has a similar population density to Ireland and u can get Broadband there cheaper than you can in the UK.

The reason its capped here (wel one of them) is because the line going out out of the DSLAM is only 2mbit (250kbytes a second) apparently here(RADSL). 2mbit(250kilobytes) about 48ppl (48:1) at full whack i think is 5.2kbytes/s.

That is why netsource has some problems and why the cap is there. (blame eircom tbh) At least thats what i understood from the explanation done on the IOFFL board.

Are you going to go for Esat's business offering B-K-DzR? I desperately wanted to get it as it doesn't have a cap and it has great pings but I can't get it where I am, instead I have Netsource business, no cap, average pings.
