Urwelcome Alany. It keeps the interest up even when your team gets beaten at the weekend (H'up Sligo).

We could make these predictions a bit more interesting. 2 points for a correct prediction and an extra point for the correct score. What ya think?

Maybe Waylander, but you know that one day I'll get one of my wackier predictions right. However, Antrim beating Tyrone isn't a stretch as some others like Dublin beating Kilkenny in the hurling championship?

Laois v Dublin - laois to cause an upset

I like that idea alot. Has anyone the time and the inclination to do up a table and maybe even backdate it to the first round of predictions. I would like to offer my services but I am too busy at the minute. It sound a bit like a moderators job to me as they could obviously be trusted with such a position of responsibility.

Now, where would one find a moderator to handle this? ;)

How about this for a scoring method...
    Correct 'Win' prediction: 3 points
Correct winning margin: plus 1 point.
    Predict a draw: 4 points
Risk bonus (e.g. predicting the 'underdog' to win - Monaghan beating Armagh): 2 extra points

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,598 ✭✭✭Yavvy

Hrmm, Sounds like a lot of hard work to me.
However.. If everyone was to submitt their predictions and their prediction results I might go to the trouble.

SO...if you were to send me all your prediction results todate I will build the table and publish it .

    Wadda yall think ?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,832 ✭✭✭Waylander

Every ones predictions are on all Ph01 threads going back to the first round. I may have started the first thread. Just print these threads out and you should have everything. I think the risk bonus is a bit obscure and should probably be left out, the fact that you are making the call and most other wont be is enough reward as you will make three points. 4 for a draw is a good idea though. Only include a point for winning margin from now as some have been guessing that while others have not. A seperate one for Hurling and Football would be best.

Ok ok, I will put it togeather over the next few days

    heres what Im proposing

    Correct prediction : 3 pts
    Winning margin : 2 pts
    Draw : 4 pts
    **Bonus score : 3 pts

**Predict the score exactly in one hurling and one football match each week and gain a bonus 2 points ( you may only choose one match to predict )

There will be a different leauge table of both Hurling and football
I will personally offer a prize for the overall winner in both football and hurling something small like a €10 voucher for lifestyle sports or something.

Do you guys think its a good Idea ?
    Let me know.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,120 ✭✭✭PH01

    Sounds good.
Not sure about the **bonas score option, and separating football and hurling. I'd prefer to see a combined score table.

And woohoo! on those vouchers! I was prepared to play for pride but now that there is money envolved it makes the thing more exciting. :)

I think I will keep the bonus score I like it and I dont think any one will get it...and it will nto effect the normal point scoring.

I will produce a football, hurling and combined leauge table
but the prizes will be seperated. so there is only pride in it to be the over all winner.

I think thats fair. or if you wanted to I could just make one
20 euro prize for the over all winner ??? and no seperated prise ??

    Let mew know

Is Monaghan playing at the w'end?
It's very hard to get a complete list of fixtures sometimes.

Monaghan Vs Westmeath in the 'Alternative route' to the All-Ireland. Clones 4:15 according to Aertel.

Saw Laois beat Mayo in the league and very impressed with them. So I would not be suprised with a win for them

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,832 ✭✭✭Waylander

Can't see it happen. Maoy are a side that is only being built, and in the league they did not have any of the Crossmolina boys. Micko is a great manager but he cannot convert also rans to Leinster champions in six months. I think Dublin will win by a few points. Having said that I am not the most objective person where Dublin are concerned.

Had 90% of the team that beat Sligo last Sunday. Time will tell, probably will not pull it off but u never know!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,832 ✭✭✭Waylander

That was a good result for Mayo but Sligo played well below themselves. I don't expect anything out of Mayo this year. In fact the Connaight final is already a result for them.
