I'm thinking of changing my 30kw leaf, probably for an e Soul..
Obviously there should be a substantial jump in range but are there any negative's that I should be aware of???
I've heard recently that the soul doesn't have a heatpump???
The leaf requires very little servicing and is quite cheap, can the same be said of the Soul???
I read somewhere, I think about the Niro needing brake fluid or similar replaced at relatively short distances!!! does the same apply to the Soul???
I'm just fishing for info before I get too hung up on one type of car.

Lots of positives. For me, so far, 97,000kms, negatives/repairs were covered by the 7 year warranty. 12v battery replacement, reduction gear replacement, an ABS sensor fault, an LED headlight unit replacement.

For me it doesn't matter. If 400kms range in Summer or 350kms range in Winter meets your need, then it won't matter to you either.

My experience; others may differ; services 1,2 and 3, every 15,000kms cost €119 on average. Service 4 at 60,000kms cost circa €350, due to change of coolant fluid to the high voltage system. The coolant fluid alone cost circa €150, in the receipt. ENiro and Kona share the same mechanical systems, so I expect the costs are similar.

I'm just fishing for info before I get too hung up on one type of car.

I suggest test drive all that fit your purpose and fit your budget. Don't be timid; ask for a demo car for 4/5 days, so that you can satify yourself if a car is right for you.

The soul may be available in smaller or larger battery on used market, sellers may not even know battery size. Anecdotal reports relatively slow to charge compared to some other EVs so if your battery is very low it may take 1+ hour to refill at 50kW charger. Some things may not be standard such as adaptive cruise control which is best feature on newer cars. Price wise don't overpay, as supply vs demand means prices are close to new prices. Get a car with the range you need so you can avoid public charging. CCS connector gives you option of ionity chargers if stuck for an expensive relatively fast charge. Look at kia Niro and Hyundai Kona for similar cars. Kona has very small boot and back seats.

I went from a ioniq 28 premium SE to a soul last year.

Range is great, best I've had was 470km (summer, non motorway, local driving). Worst was 330 (winter and lots of motorway driving)

Servicing is more epensive than hyundai. I was paying ~€55 for most of the ioniq services (I had 5 or 6 orver 3 years and 90,000km)

I've had one service with the soul at it was €130 or so. I do expect an additional hit for every third service due to batt colent replacement

Reason I went for Soul over over Kona or Niro was

Kona was too small
I did not need bigger daily boot of Niro
Soul box shape suited me better eg transporting mountain bike with back seats down

Main reason for me was that Soul (there is only one version) comes with far better specs than Niro or Kona (or did last year anyway) Specifically;

heated seats / steering wheel
motorised driver seat
motorised lumbar support (big thing for me)
10 speaker Herman Kardon sound system
larger centre display
Heads up display etc

Things I miss about my ioniq (but am fine with missing)

heated seats in the back (well its the kids that miss it)
Ventilated/cooled front seats (used only ocassionally, but still nice)
Efficiency - nothing with the exception of a tesla will match ioniq efficiency.

Just FYI on some of this

Max charge speed is 76 kw tapering to mid 60kW's at 40%, mid 50kW's at 55% and drops again at 70%, from 80% onwards its below 25kw - but depends on batt temp, SOC of batt etc. Charging pattern will be very very similar to kona or Niro. It normally takes me 10+ minutes of fast charging in winter before the battery temp is high enough to hit the max). In reality I tend to stick with the 50kW chargers when cold outside, becuase the benefit versus additional cost is debatable.

Re specs, there is a single model (unless its changed this year). This spec is better than any other car with similar batt size in the sub €50k price bracket. (well at least with regards tothe specs I care about)

So I've had my Model 3 order pulled forward from August to end of this month. I got a good trade in value from Tesla so whether I get more selling privately or to a dealer I am going to make the switch.

A more detailed Donedeal/Adverts ad will be put together over coming days but in the meantime....

Looks fantastic slave1, blue is a great colour on the Teslas. For anyone reading here - if you're in the market for a Model S - this car ticks an awful lot of boxes and can be had for a very decent price (better value than any other Tesla for sale on DoneDeal at the moment).

Tesla still sell the CHAdeMO adapter for €99 last time I looked and with it, this is just one of maybe a few dozen cars in Ireland that can literally fast charge at every single fast charger of any sort of system.

He will, but it's too good an opportunity not to buy the brand new Model 3 for very little extra on top of what he sold his 7 year old Model S for. And the Model 3 will be worth a few thousand more than he paid for it, as soon as he drives it away at delivery day. Simply can't argue with those financials.

The base Model 3 is just under €52k. Remember Tesla don’t do extras, or packages like the other brands. You generally get the full spec with the only options being paint, wheels, interior colour and what Version of autopilot you want.

In contrast to the BMW i4, for example, €63k base, then when you add the better screen, headlights, sound system, your over the €70k mark.

The cars you are seeing with battery replacements, are the first Gen Model S. they had battery issues that appeared in some, not all but all have been replaced under warranty here still to this day.

Turn your steering wheel full left, this will expose the part number of your battery behind drivers side front wheel. Stick the code into the internet and it will magically tell you original or replacement

Best of luck with the sale! Might as well mention it has a heat pump. Amazing that a relatively cheap car had all that spec as standard 5 years ago. Most of those are optional extras on the likes of BMW and Porsche cars costing 3-4 times as much. And that it has depreciated so little in all that time. The Ioniq 28kWh really is a great car.

19k is strong money but I have no doubt you'll get close to it. Car looks well presented and the Ioniq28 was a brilliant car to begin with! I said it at the time, when the only competitors were Tesla S or Leaf/Zoe, that it's 2/3 of a Tesla S for 1/3 of the price, and I stand by that.

I would also mention in the ad that to upgrade your car from EAP to FSD currently costs €3800 and then your hardware will be upgraded from version 2.5 to version 3 for free by Tesla. For someone planning to keep the car a long time, that might be a wise investment. Musk said this week that he plans to talk to the EU regulators within the next 2-3 months with a view to getting them to allow the FSD beta over here. The price of FSD in the USA has gone up considerably since the first beta was available over there (as the capabilities of the system were improving)

🤣🤣🤣 I wandered when someone would realise I wanted to complete the set!! Only doing 15K Klms between two cars so no need for the premium comfort. Also needed 3 cars seats before but now down to 1.5 which makes a big difference!!

I will happily disclose on Sunday after pulling the trigger on the trade in but out it this way only a few K below what I have advertised for.

Saw re FSD but not convinced. Still deciding if will add EAP on the Y. I am still adamant the best AP is AP1!!

Still too early for me, but if I were seriously looking now there's a couple of 100D six seat X in dealers for similar money. Like it or lump it I'm not going to hand over that amount of money in a private sale without it being cheaper than a dealer.

TBH if I were in the position of having an X and trading it in for a Y, i'd probably just trade it in if the price were any way realistic on the trade

You are right but thought I would see if someone looking for this specific spec before handing back to Tesla and the. Paying a premium. I know myself that it highly unlikely to sell before my cut off (Sunday night) so will likely be going back to Tesla.

@Smck1983 - Of course you shouldn't be convinced by FSD. In Europe (because of the regulators) it is severely limited in what it can do over EAP. Basically just stop sign and traffic light recognition (plus enhanced visualisations if you have MCU2). And at that both of the above are flaky as they work for US based signs and traffic lights. Personally I do like the chime you get when the light turns green. I wish all the slow people in all the cars in front of me at traffic lights all had that 😂

My point is that a car with FSD second hand at the moment is barely worth anything more than a car without it. And you can buy it from Tesla cheaply. This both could very well change once FSD beta is introduced in the EU and once it starts improving after that. So even if you aren't interested in the features, it could be a shrewd investment. Timing is the main issue here though, I wouldn't even expect FSD beta to be allowed in the EU this year. Maybe next year. And if you sell your car before it becomes a more feature rich system, you could lose some or most of your investment in it.

yeah I get the part about regulators but there is also the issue with the low sunlight etc that blinds the cameras. Don’t think it will be suitable on “normal” roads either. I know I will likely be wrong but happy to pay for it when I can see what it can do.
