      Hi there,
      I was returning a packet to the UK for mom using an post and I had to fill in an aviation security declaration and since I only had a fair idea of what was inside(she said it was something related to jewellery) so I wrote down in the description it is jewellery. But was browsing around and it says jewellery cannot be sent by standard post as it is a restricted item even though it's not strictly jewellery, just my dumb ass saying it was. The clerk still took it from me. Does this mean it will get lost or not sent down the line?

      No issues with jewelry

      I think it's more to do with security risk from theft of jewelry than prohibited items such as liquids

      I had an issue with them as not too include batteries when posting with them.

      Batteries are banned from air post services due to fire risk. Jewellery is generally to be sent by recorded and insured delivery, but never heard of it not allowed. More like not recommended.

      I guess An Post is just insuring themselves against claims from customers.

      If the person at the post office accepted the item you should be fine.

      I was sending a watch a while back, made the mistake of saying the battery was in it, ended up having to go to another post office and be less honest with my answers.

      I would like to make a complaint...
      I got my Bank of Ireland Visa Debit card last week, I live in an apartment, that has 64 letterboxes...
      Even if the envelope had my full addres, and the "Private and confidential" text on it, the postman simply left it on the top of the letterboxes!!! I've found it wrinkled and opened )made photos as well, of course).
      What if someone copied my card details?
      BTW, still didn't get my PIN, who knows, where that letter has gone...
      What an unacceptable service, with incompetent employees....
      Will file a report to authorities, for sure!

      So you live in an apartment block with 64 letterboxes and obviously 64+ people

      The envelope with the bank card was wrinkled and opened.


      Two questions

      1, did you see the postman leave it on top of the boxes?

      2. Did you think that possibly some person from one of the other 63 apartments took the letter out of your letterbox to check for cash or something else?

      I would report it to the managers of the apartment complex and ask that they check the cctv.

      Would you like to be blamed for something without proof?
