How do you know if PPS application successful?

Since things have changed a bit with Covid restrictions etc. how do you know if a PPS number application has been successful? Have a colleague currently traveling abroad to handle some paperwork in old home country applying for one and says he cannot get info on whether the application has been approved. Needs it ASAP to get business matters and taxation in order (these were not the reason he applied but as you know, the number is needed in many places) but MyWelfare.ie seems to have completely lost any mention of the application being processed. Maybe they just simply send a letter to his Ireland address but to me sounds kind of strange that they wouldn't send out any message via email or their system to let him know whether the application was denied or whether he'll get the number. Very frustrating it seems trying to get PPSN. I don't know where to tell him to call/email or what. Anyone know how this works these days?

Morning, I don't have a direct answer for your colleague but have seen a number of queries on this very topic put to the departments Twitter Team, people seem to get a response quickly enough by way of a DM , obviously they'll only respond to applications directly so might be worth a try or perhaps call them .

As far as I know the person applying for a PPS Number gets a letter to their registered address with the number on it.

Apparently they send a letter after the number has been issued. The applicants need to attend an interview at a later date, otherwise they cannot get the actual card but with the current situation and probably lots of applicants, who knows how long that will take.

Are you referring to the Public Services Card (PSC)? This is different to a PPS Number (Personal Public Service).
