Have a look through this http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056230453 but bear in mind this is January and some things may not be open this time of year.

Glenveigh National Park or Ards Forest Park,
Nice walks around Ards Friary and the golden beaches there
trip around Horn Head, near Dunfanaghy
    Poison Glen in Dunlewy

Any trip to Stranorlar wouldn't be the same without popping over the bridge into Ballyfofey and McElhinneys Store

Drumboe woods run along the river between Stranorlar and Ballybofey if you fancy a picnic or just a nice walk, pram would be no problem at all.

    Thanks for all the replies.
Its our first time up that far...do we need a visa :D

Its only 3 nights but there's always a possibility of a return visit if we like it.
It will be the first time we have been on our own in 3 years of married life..Does anyone want to mind a baby for a few days ??;)

Brown envelopes will get you entry to most of the county and its facilities ;)

Im sure you'll be back. Like most places if the weather is good you'll love it. Out for a day trip is probably one of the best things you can do. Are you staying in Kee's hotel by any chance? Its just that they will give you good advice on where to go and what to do.

A 10 - 15 minute trip will take you to Biddy's O'Barnes which is located on the Ballybofey - Donegal Town road. If you do go there just make sure you go into the old public bar which has it's door to the right of the building.

Another 10 minutes further on will take you to both Harveys Point and the Solis hotels. They're both located on the banks of Lough eske not far apart. Lovely spots and food, while not cheap, is good. Just a word of caution...the access roads to the hotels aren't great but a fantastic view when driving around Lough Eske

10 minutes drive further on will take you into Donegal town where there are a few attractions such as the water bus (subject to weather conditions) is very popular with sightings of dolphins becoming more frequent it seems.

Nope! Thankfully my days at that are over :D

Enjoy the trip and dont forget to post back and let us know what you thought of the place :)

not sure when you are here OP but Harveys Point is shut (as usual) until the last weekend in January and its Burns' Night caboret. The gates are probably closed but if you can get in swing into the carpark to the right (after a small building) from there you can get around the side and to the lake.
your right down on the lake's edge anyway before the gates.

Biddys is a good spot tho;)
