Sore Feet - What Options?!

    Hi All,

I was hoping for a bit of advice on my current options. Basically, I took up running in 2009, and have really taken to it. Completed numerous 5K 10K races etc. and last year did the Dublin Marathon.

Anyway, I noticed that I started to gain weight over the last few months, so I joined a gym to do some other training as well as running.

On my FIRST day in the gym (Fri 18th Mar) I wore my Vibrams - and foolishly strapped my feet tightly into the rowing machine... These shoes are great for running, but after the 'pulling' back and forth with a tight strap across what is essentially my bare forefoot I ended up with very sore feet. I think it could be tendonitis.

2 days later (Sun 20th Mar), there was the St. Patrick's Festival 5K in Dublin City which I was entered in. So like the eejit that I am, I ran through the pain and finished the race. Naturally this only made things worse; and I've basically been out of action since.

I've been resting as much as possible, and at least I can still swim... but I'm wondering if I'm missing out on any possible options. Bearing in mind that my feet might feel great, but if I walk for 5 or 10 minutes they get very sore very quickly, and I end up limping around like an old man!

    Thanks in advance!
    Stephen.

That sounds a bit like something you should see a physio or some kind of foot doctor about.

Yeah I know I should. In fairness they have gotten a LOT better just with rest. If it persists then I will go get a professional's opinion.

No, I just started using them for running, which was fine... no problems at all. I never even thought how wearing them while strapping my foot into the rowing machine might affect them!
