    Right folks,
Looking for your input on this. I am 5'10 -11 and approx 10 and half stone. This is skinny and I have always been skinny. I'm under the impression that whatever I eat I wont gain weight. This may or may not be true as I have never really focussed and tried to gain weight...

Anyhow, my aim is to eat as big as I can for the next few weeks and also lift hard in the gym. I am hoping to gain as much weight as I can be it fat and muscle or a combination of the two etc.

Here is my diet for the next few weeks, I would appreciate your thoughts on this...

8am - Banana + yoghurt ( gone out the door to work then!)

    10.30 am:
Bowl of Cereal (special K normally) + Piece of fruit + Yoghurt
    or
Toasted sandwhich with bacon cheese butter etc. + fruit

    1pm
Lunch - Carvery dinner which consists of chips or mash with meat and veg.

    3.30pm
Snack - Oats bar and glass of milk

    6pm
Dinner - This can vary. I hope to include pasta and some meat here...

Before bed - Weight gain drink - I have just bought this. Its critical mass and one serving should equate to about 1000 cals really. I know this isnt good before bed, but hey I do not care...

Advice and thoughts are greatly appreciated...

You need to be getting protein in with every meal for a start.

For breakfast try an omelette's with 4 or 5 eggs.
If your not going to do that, get a blender, throw in oats, natural yogurt, peanut butter, banana, whey protein, orange juice/milk. takes 2 seconds.

Milk is one of the best things you can drink as its about 600 cals per litre.
A lot of people go by GOMAD, gallon of milk a day. I know that sounds like a lot but get at least a couple of liters in.

When you say lifting heavy, what exactly are you doing?
I was basically under 11 stone when I started weight lifting @ 5ft11. I'm just under 14 stone now. Basically focused on eating lots and doing starting strength - its the best program you will find for getting strong and putting on weight as a beginner and the sooner you realise it and start it, the better. People told me about starting strength loads of times and I never listened. When I finally did it, I realized how great it is. and lose the special K.... protein with every meal.

Also you keep saying 'the next few weeks'. If you're serious about it, its going to take a lot more than a few weeks...

hey Colman, thanks for the replies...
Firstly, yes I realise this will take alot longer than a few weeks..I guess I will go with either starting strength or 5x5 in the gym...Seems the best for a beginner.

Secondly, I now understand that I need to get more protein. Sometimes, I just think that more carbohydrates equals more weight...
Ok so at breakfast I will now have scrambled eggs with 2 sausages and milk...

I will also aim to put down at least 2 liters of milk a day as well as my high calorie shake...

I really hope I can stick to this...

You don't need more protein, you need more calories, protein, carbs, fat it doesn't matter. Tbh whey, weight gainer whatever is all a waste of money unless your eating enough calories. Aim for around 3000 and go from there. Carbs are usually high in calories for the portion size, for weight gain I always start with lots of pasta, milk and peanut butter.

That's not to say don't eat protein, but for weight gain it's less important than calories and if your getting enough calories your probably getting enough protein.

That's a poor diet if you want to gain weight tbh, you need more everything like Steve says.

Ideally, you don't want to go overboard on the carbs/sugar, as Dan John mentions that it can play havoc with your insulin.

Overall, more protein and fats will help you, with a decent amount of carbs too (but not exclusively all sugar, all crap).

    What routine are you using?

To gain serious size you need to be full pretty much all the time.
