With season 6 details from Comic-con due soon I thought it would be a good idea to start a single thread for all related spoilerish discussion. Basically, until the really major filming spoilers start appearing in September, anything goes in here. Feel free to post/discuss interviews with actors/writers, etc.

Most of the spoilers will be officially released and so unlikely to ruin your enjoyment of next season. But if - for example - you would have preferred not to have known Michael was returning in season 4 then: READ NO FURTHER.

And with that said... to start off here's an interview with Elizabeth Mitchell in which she confirms (as expected) that she will be returning in some capacity next season.

    http://spoilerslost.blogspot.com/2009/07/elizabeth-mitchell-interview.html

And here's a recent answer from Ausiello about another possible return cast member next season:
"Question: Any info on which ABC show Dominic Monaghan will be on this season? I've scoured the web high and low and couldn't find any info. --Stacey
Ausiello: I think you mean what shows. And you'll get your answer soon enough"

I try to avoid all spoilerish things but comic con is my 1 luxury. It always a fun Q+A without ever giving away anything that big.

The alternative answer is that they never actually answer questions, just give you a few vague insinuations with a wry smile :pac:

Nothing major was revealed. Here's a brief summary of what was discussed:

    - Season 6 will be similar to season 1, similar sense of adventure. Old season 1 characters will appear. Faraday will also appear.

    - Q: Will there be flashbacks, flashforwards, time travel?
    - A: Season 6 will be "different".

    - Mock videos are shown which seem to suggest that time has been changed.

    - Jorge Garcia asked: "Does what we saw mean Jack's plan worked, erasing the last five years?"
    - Writers: "Trust us."
    - Garcia: "Last time I trusted you guys, you said Nikki and Paulo were going to be awesome."

    - We will learn about Richard's backstory in season 6.

    - Regardless of whether she survived or not, Juliet will be in season 6. For how many episodes they won't say.

    - We will find out where the Dharma food drops come from.

    - Not much Dharma stuff in season 6.

    - Has Jacob ever taken the form of someone else? No.

    - The hobbit appeared on stage. So I guess Charlie will be back too.

11.07am: A video advert for Lost University appears on screen. "We are the cutting edge of tomorrow," says the voiceover, advising viewers to log on to the website.

11.09am: Another video now, which begins with a message saying that this is an excerpt from a short-lived TV series from the 1980s that might be of interest to Lost fans. "They look like us, they talk like us, they walk among us yet they are not us," says the voiceover. The Dharma logo appears. The voiceover describes Dharma as a "clandestine organisation" and questions its purpose. "Why do they exist and what are they here for?"

11.10am: Another video featuring clips from the season five finale.

11.11am: Damon and Carlton come on stage to the sound of Europe's 'The Final Countdown'. The pair begin by saying how greatful they are for everything Comic-Con has done for Lost in the last few years.

11.13am: A series of Lost parody clips (the kind you might find on YouTube) play out on the screen.

11.16am: Darlton say they have the final scene of Lost written down and with them. Carlton pulls his page from his sock. They put the pages in a locked box and send it off to an undisclosed location. Damon says that on the night of the finale, they will go on Jimmy Kimmel Live and read the script, to prove they're not making things up as they go along.

11.19am: Question time: "What are the similarities to season one in season six?" Damon says: "On the surface of it, there's a good chance you'll be seeing many of the characters you haven't seen [for a while]. It's really our goal for you to watch the final season of the show and not know what we're going to do next."

11.21am: Question now from someone who appears to be a celebrity, although I'm not sure who. He says he's devoted the last six months of his life to creating Lost-inspired art. It's a painting of the boys posing alongside a polar bear.

11.23am: A woman now who says she is a Faraday fangirl and wonders if he'll be happily married with kids next season. "Faraday is kinda dead, so if you like zombie weddings, then maybe," says Carlton. He then confirms: "Faraday will be on the show though, yes."

11.25am: A man asks if there will be any pre-2004 flashbacks in the final season. Carlton says: "We're doing something different in season six. The time travel season is over, the flashforward season is over, but season six is something different."

11.27am: The winning entrant of a competition to create a Lost opening sequence is played, then followed by a couple messages from "sponsors".

11.28am: ... the first of which is an advert for Oceanic. It claims: "Oceanic Airlines, in the air since 1979. Thirty years with a perfect safety record."

11.29am: Next is an advert for Mr. Cluck's chicken shack, starring Hurley! Then an America's Most Wanted segment asking viewers to help find a dangerous killer - Kate Austen.

11.32am: Next question comes from Jorge Garcia (Hurley). He says that he hopes that the Losties haven't succeeded in changing events of the past because that would mean the last five seasons have been pointless. "Trust us," say Darlton. Jorge replies: "Yeah but the last time I trusted you guys, you said Nikki and Paolo were going to be awesome!"

11.34am: Michael Emerson (Linus) appears next to Jorge and starts mocking him and his acting abilities. "Yall wanna know the real reason Michael's upset?" Jorge asks the audience. "Michael here originally wanted to play Hurley, but the part was already cast."

11.36am: Michael retorts: "I think that everyone understands that I was originally cast in a guest spot but then became a series regular. A part that was written especially for me."

11.37am: A video of Michael Emerson auditioning for the part of Hurley is shown. He's dressed in an oversized black T-shirt and wearing a black bandana. Much amusement as he recreates some classic Hurley scenes.

11.39am: Michael and Jorge have now joined Darlton up on stage. A woman from the audience asks about a Richard Alpert flashback and if it will coincide with arrival of Black Rock. "You will be seeing a lot of Richard and I think we would be completely remiss if we didn't give you Richard's flashback before the end," says Carlton. Damon adds that Alpert's flashback will be "very involved".

11.40am: A guy asks about the fate of Juliet. Damon says: "Elizabeth Mitchell will be in Lost in the final season."

11.44am: Footage of Nestor Carbonelli (Richard Alpert) supposedly backstage, sitting in front of a makeup mirror and applying mascara, before complaining then attacking the camera. On queue, Nestor comes out on stage.

11.46am: "What, how or who made the food drop in season two?" asks someone. "That could be something we address in the final season," says Damon.

11.48am: A man asks how big a part Dharma will play this year. "Not as big a role," says Carlton. "We are kind of moving on to some other stuff this year." Damon adds that more will be revealed about Dharma on the DVD.

11.50am: Someone asks if Jacob has ever appeared to any other Losties before the season five finale, then demands a yes or no answer. "No," is the answer.

11.52am: Damon says there is one more special guest then a film rolls. It's clips of Sawyer (Josh Holloway)! Much whooping from the audience.

11.53am: Josh joins the gang on stage. Darlton ask if there are any questions, and Josh pipes up. He then tazers Damon, before taking the key to the locked box from around his neck.

11.54am: Josh then coerces Carlton into unlocking the box. He then takes the script. "Alright yall, finally," he tells the audience then pauses.

11.55am: "Oh my god, you don't know how to read, do you?" asks Michael then takes the script from Josh, who protests: "I left my glasses on the island!"

11.56am: Michael reads a scene between Sylar and Parkman at a collapsed circus tent. "What the **** is this?!?" says Michael. Much laughter.

11.58am: Clip reel of the fallen Losties. In order: Gary Troup, Captain Seth Norris, Dr. Leslie Atrz, Neil "Frogurt", Roger Linus, Tom Friendly, Ethan Rom, Ana Lucia Cortez, Elizabeth "Libby" Smith, Nikki & Paolo, Karl Martin, Danielle Rousseau, Alex Rousseau, Shannon Rutherford, Boone Carlyle, Charlotte Lewis, Mr. Eko, Michael Dawson, Daniel Faraday, Charlie Pace.

12.01pm: Very extended clips of Charlie's time on Lost. Applause and cheering. It ends with the caption: "You are Lost, but not forgotten."

12.03pm: Clip ends, Dominic appears on stage to hysterical cheering. "That's all folks," say Darlton and it's a wrap. What do you think this means? Is Charlie coming back to Lost? Add your comments to this entry below! I'll hopefully be back in a few hours with the Heroes panel.

I haven't seen the videos yet but apparently they imply that Jack was successful in preventing the plane crash. They show alternate version of past events, one in which Oceanic has a 30 year safety record and Kate is on America's most wanted.

I don't think the writers will actually hit the reset button but here's an idea: what if next season instead of having flashbacks/flash-forwards/time-travel, the show jumps back and forth between two alternate timelines.

Timeline A - where Oceanic 815 did crash and everything continues as normal.

    and

Timeline B - an alternate timeline where the plane landed safely in LAX.

Basically this would give us a chance to see what might have been. It would show what the characters would have become if not for the island.

Might be an interesting direction for the final season to take.

I LOL'd when they had the bit about Nestor Carbonnel applying eye make up backstage before he came out to join the panel.

Carbonell/Richard will be a regular next season as well.
Lost's Nestor Carbonell (Richard Alpert) will finally be a series regular next season. "I'm moving my whole family to Hawaii next week," Nestor tells me. "This whole time I've been flying back and forth, but now I'll be living on the island with the others. They tell me I'll be in 16 of the 18 episodes." Executive producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof say his backstory will take a significant time to reveal. Adds the actor: "Obviously Richard doesn't age, so I'm most curious to know how old he is and if he's in fact pulling the strings."

And here's a low res shot of the promo poster shown at the panel:

Ugh, they are definitely hinting towards that there will be some sort of reset button, maybe a not a full blown one but something akin to what SP suggested.
I really really hope not. I hate the idea of a reset button. It would be such a cop out on so many levels.

That poster has me very excited!

    Two slightly odd things strike me upon looking at it for a few seconds;

    1. Is Walt missing from it?
    2. Is that Rose and Bernard on the far right?

Yeah no Walt. I guess they forgot.

Also (Un)Locke in the centre with his back to us. Kinda cool.

This might be a silly question this but: there is a video of "alternative future Hurley" talking about how great his life has been since he won the lotto but if the hatch is destroyed then he wouldn't never have won the lotto in the first place would he as he would never have got the numbers. No?

    Good catch.

I guess it depends on where the numbers came from. If they originated as a random serial number on the hatch then you're correct. However, if we treat the Lost Experience as canon then the numbers are part of the Valenzetti Equation and their existence precedes the creation of the hatch. So even in an alternate timeline they might still have been transmitted via the radio tower, overheard by Leonard and Rousseau in 1988 and later given to Hurley.

Ah, I knew there could be a way around it, the Lost universe is too huge to keep track of these things. But if the numbers are now curse free as the video suggests, then Leonard would never have ended up in the mental institution to pass them on to Hurley.

Or perhaps I'm simply delving far too deep into an non-canonical in-joke for a nerd convention.....:o

On another note does anyone else wonder when looking at the character photo for the final season how on earth they are going to pack it all into 17 episodes, particularly as there could theoretically be two versions of some characters running around?

Firstly, i would take the comic con clips with a grain of salt. Take last years clip with chang. It wasn't really considered canon.

My take on it is if the hatch never exisited then everything that happened to the characters upto 2004 would all be the same, they would all get on flight 815 again, but this time it wouldn't crash due to the hatch interfering with it.

I'm not saying they still won't end up on the island again though. It was confirmed in the end of s05 that Jacob has been bringing people to the island for some purpose. If they do show an alternate reality i reckon they will all somehow find themselves back on it.

On thinking a bit further on this. They can try this without actually showing what the result is and maybe an over-arching question throughout the season can be what exactly did happen when Juliet set the bomb off with it being answered in the finale.

It gives them a lot of scope and may be a lot better then what I initially thought. I have lot of faith in Darlton to deliver but I am still very uncomfortable with any kind of reset button.

Yeah so am I. But if it plays out as I suggested it wouldn't really be a reset button. The existing timeline would continue as normal. Timeline B (where the plane didn't crash) would just be a parallel universe in which things worked out differently. Switching back and forth between them would be the best of both worlds.

    So for example:

    - Sawyer on the island in 2008 with his new found hero/leader status working with Jack to fight UnLocke or whatever.

    *swoosh*/flash to:

    - Sawyer in the real world in alternate 2008, in jail or in trouble for one thing or another, still a selfish jerk, etc.

The new Star Trek film and Fringe have touched on similar territory. However, I'm not sure this idea would sustain a whole season. Maybe just the first few episodes.

Providing an explanation for it would be another thing. Some of the time-travel stuff really bothered me last season but tbh I don't really care if we get an answer for it anymore. It was just a dramatic device.

    More casting rumours from DarkUFO:
How Many Episodes of Lost Is Dominic Monaghan Doing?

Production on Lost season six doesn't begin for another few weeks, but thanks to Comic-Con, we're starting to get a sense of the new season, including which castmembers might be back to cavort in those alternate timelines the producers teased.

Which brings us to Dominic Monaghan's beloved Charlie. His appearance on stage as the grand finale of Lost's panel all but confirmed that Mr. Pace would be back for the final season of Lost. But is it true? And if so, how much might we see of him? Here's what we're hearing...

Sources tell us exclusively that, yes, Dom's deal to reappear on Lost is done and that the original castmember is set to appear in three episodes in season six.

No word yet on the answer to the big question: Is Charlie alive? We'll have to wait until Lost returns to ABC in January 2010 to find out.

    Source: E!Online
    http://spoilerslost.blogspot.com/2009/07/dominic-monaghan-will-be-in-3-episodes.html

Hi all, I've been sent through some very nice information from a casting agency rep, which whilst I cannot confirm 100% I believe to be pretty accurate from what else I've heard from other sources. However until we get some proper confirmation I'll be leaving this in the rumours section.

Here is the gist of the information which I'm summarizing from their email.

    - Lost Producers are attempting to obtain contracts with the bulk of old cast members for season 6 and checking their filming availability.
    - This includes Cynthia Watros,Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Clancy Brown, Daniel Roebuck, Mira Furlan, Andrew Divoff, M.C. Gainey, Brett Cullen, and Bill Mapother. None of these have been officially confirmed/signed up
    - Also included are a number of ex-major characters, Maggie Grace, Ian Sommerhalder, Dom, Elizabeth Mitchell, Michell Rodriquez, Harold and Rebecca for multiple episodes.
    http://lostrumours.blogspot.com/2009/07/season-6-big-casting-rumours.html

So despite their earlier comments it looks like they haven't given up resolving Libby's story just yet.

3 episodes for Monaghan isn't really much. Enough for a reset button fake-out in the first episode, and maybe one final flashback appearance in the last episode.

Although I wouldn't consider the in comic con videos to be canon, they are always a bit of a clue as to the direction that the next season will follow. Chang the time travelling bunny.. also the video where he's in the Swan with Dan's voice in the background, although that one doesn't seem possible now.

Yeah possibly, its one thing alot of lost fans are complaining to them about. Its been mentioned quite a few times by them in their podcasts. At the time i was curious about her backstory but i think theres many other plot lines they could and should resolve. It could be interesting. Maybe Libby has some ties with Widmore seeing as she gave Desmond her husbands boat?

Never know, it could still happen. The actor playing Faraday is due to appear in a few episodes next season.

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, aka former tailie Mr. Eko, has a message for Lost executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse: “Fans of Eko should have hope.” Though Akinnuoye-Agbaje was the first castaway to vote himself off the island in season three, the British actor hopes to be one of the dead characters who makes a comeback in the drama’s final season. “I loved playing that character,” he told EW at the premiere of G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra, in which he plays Heavy Duty. “I loved working with that team and the reception I got from people was phenomenal. Even at Comic-Con this year I went to sign my action figure for G.I. Joe and people had tons of questions about Lost. It makes you feel good that you could be off a show for more than a year and still have people thinking about your character. It was a great part.

“I’m here for them,” Akinnuoye-Agbaje continues. “Adewale is open for business. We have had talks about some things they might do for the final season and there are other dead folks coming back allegedly but at the moment it is still a maybe. A strong maybe but I have not shot anything yet or signed any contracts. But I’m hoping.”

The executive producers declined to comment but they did tell attendees at Comic-Con last month that the show will allow for dead or presumed-dead characters to return. Definites include Daniel Faraday (Jeremy Davies), Claire (Emilie de Ravin), Juliet (Elizabeth Mitchell) and Boone (Ian Somerhalder). What do you think? Should Mr. Eko be among the dearly departed who’s allowed to stage a comeback?

Yes! If they are having a alternate timeline scenario then yes...

personally i can't see a reset... 1 reason is because of that shootout on the canoes. That just tells me that the writers had a plan to continue on in season 6 from the other canoes perspective..

and the main reason being.. what would they do for the season?? Just show the difference to their lives if there was no crash??

Still though i'll look forward to seeing some of the old characters for an episode or so..
