Just to let people know, particularly if your living within traveling distance of Bray that there is a great place for buying new runners called Amphibian King. It's run by a very nice guy called Damian McKeever and came highly recommended to me by a friend in work.
To get there coming from Dublin, travel south down the M50 onto the M11 and take second exit for Bray (you pass the Bray north exit) you turn left from the roundabout and head back into Bray. The shop is about half a Kilometer on your left along with a number of other retail outlets.
Damian will ask you some questions and take measurements of your feet before taking a video of you running barefoot along a small track in the shop and then based upon these he will recommend some runners suited to your feet, be you have flat, raised or normal arches etc (slightly more technical then that).
He will then video you again in the runners he has chosen for you and make recommendations as to which shoe suits your feet best. I personally took his advice but he does give you a choice. All said it took just over half an hour.
I'll be honest with you, before I used just pick a runner based on size and looks alone :o but considering I now want to do a fair bit of jogging I decided I better get a pair that will help rather than hinder my training.
I read in another tread about someone asking for advice and not really getting any in some of the bigger sports shops. Well at least in Amphibian King you'll get to chat with someone who knows what he's talking about and when it comes to something as important as runners I think taking some advice with no!! added expense is the least we can do.

Great place and always recommended on the forums here. Damian is a member here. I went on a weekend morning and was allowed out for a jog around the carpark in a few pairs. I really only do walking in mine but wanted a decent pair as I can go long distances and they are great. Also the prices are always at RRP or below.

The lads in champion sports were probably flipping burgers the week before- these guys are experienced pros though -qualified in the subject.

    +1 for this store.

Got sorted with a quality pair of runners a few months back and was very happy with the service and price, even if my runners are an incredibly ugly bright blue :o
Plus you get €10 off your next purchase and the likes of Champion Sports don't offer that.

Word of warning: If you don't drive and decide to get the Dart, it's a pretty long trek from the Dart station.
