    I can't get any SOCKS type programs to work at all. I'm trying to get AIM to connect, but it's not working. Supposedly hermes2.ucc.ie port 1080 is meant to work but it doesn't seem to work for anything at all, on Socks4 or 5.

    I also can't get AIM to connect using HTTP/HTTPS...

    They only allow certain IM platforms, they only one I know they allow is MSN. Call into computer centre in Boole basement, they might be able to modify your ACL to let AIM work
