It being Christmas I was reminded, as I am every bloody year,
that my first 45 was Merry Xmas Everybody by Slade.

What was yours and how old were you when the music
    bug bit?

    I was 9

My first album followed a year later I think - Slade Alive.

    Mike.

First one I think I ever got was Zig and Zag - never mind the zogabongs, what a cool one. Emm first one I ever bought, I think was Crash Test Dummies, mmm mmm mmm. I spent most of my earlier years listening to my bro's Iron Maiden LP's, so I never really bought anything :)

First album was The Prodigy - Experience on tape. That died around '96, I bought the CD version. That's now scratched to bits and unplayable, so I now have another (pristine) CD version.

Erm, A-has 2nd album whatever that was. I was 8 or something. The next one after that was Guns N Roses Use Your Illusion II - the language was shocking to me.

The first cd I got was Prince - My name is Prince, then I got the album that came from and moved on from there.

Now I listen to stuff from Sigur Ros to Sepultura and various between those twp types of music.

My first single was on 45rpm vinyl, natch... and it was... ehhh... JIve Bunny's "Swing the Mood"... I *think*.

First album (on good old 12" 33rpm vinyl) was Now That's What I Call Music... volume 13 I think. On the side, is there anywhere where you can see all the old NOW album covers? (The ones with the red green and blue balls for the N, O and W letters) ... some of them were quite creative.

I remember my sister got Thriller by Wacko Jaco in about '85 and I remember playing that 'til the tape actually broke!

My first serious album was a "pirate" copy of Iron Maiden Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, I bought in Budapest in 1987. Still have it actually- brill album BTW:)

I don't buy singles really cause I never had enough cash to waste on them.

First album was either Dinosaur Jr. - Where you Been on tape oir Pearl Jam - Ten on CD. Can't remember which but it was probably Pearl Jam.

I would've bought albums sooner but I have two older brothers and I was able to live off their collections and my Dad's for years.

Anyway that's it. I grew weary of this thread. Goodnight.

First ever album was Iron Maiden - Killers (I was maybe 9 or 10)
First CD was U2 - Achtung Baby
First Single - not too sure as I've only ever bought a handfull - but I think it was U2's Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me that was the theme tune on one of the Batman films.

And to those of you who bought Siamese Dream - I only wish I had that kind of taste at that age - fair play! :)

That would have been Saxon's 'Rock the nations' when i was about 12 or 13 ('88), and man did it rock

First single? Jees, dunno possibly Judas Priest 'Painkiller' on 12" red vinyl....

(i have reluctantly submitted these knowing that i'm leaving myself WIDE OPEN for getting the urine taken out of me :( )
