I'm starting this thread for all those of us who frequent (or frequented) the "Yacamini - feed the poor artists Institute"

If you have anything you want to complain about, please make sure we all know who it is, but don't mention any names.

I'm a recent Grad by the way, and YES forth years - there are jobs out there. Just pull your finger our of your @ss, forget about the Analogs/Intels/Citibanks of the world, and find some Small to Medium Enterprise (SME) in Ringaskiddy or Little Island.

I am putting Elec Eng down on the CAO this weekend. Wanted Micro-Elec Eng but they are all together now again.

I can't figure out why anyone would go through the pain of micro elec :P . 2 modules in 4 years is far too much ;)

I find it very hard to understand why anyone would choose micro straight from the leaving cert. It's grand to specialise in it after a year or two, but to start in it from scratch just seems too much to me.

Anyway, good luck D-Generate, you should have no worries about getting into Elec Eng. The points have been abysmal the last few years, which in no way reflects on the difficulty of the course

I still sometimes wake up in the middle of the night with bad memories from that course. Can't believe how low the points are. People going into it need to know they are in for a very bumpy ride.

Specialising in it after a year is even silly as you don't really do any micro until second year. It's not like there is anything done to do with micro in first year really. It was essentially the same course for almost all of first year bar one module.

So the majority of posters on the Cork forum actually did this course? Kind of weird!

or are doing. plenty more people who are doing the course do read this "cork city" thread. they are all waiting for somebody to post something about the lecturers.

    I might be mistaken...

for a while there i wasnt able to get access to boards from the elec eng building. thought ger had blocked it for some strange reason

I've never had any problems accessing boardsie from elec eng. Are u sure that you weren't trying to access it when it was down. Jer doesn't tend to block access to sites at all.

Ralph is the man. I wonder how much he spends each year on those calendars in his office

He buys a lot of them in the sales when they're cheap, but still, he does like his calendars.

I've made some great friends among the staff and postgrads of the department, and I believe that any reading these pages, will see the funny side of most things.

DaveIrl, I think its best if you remove anything that might be offensive.
Apart from that, it should be kept light hearted.

By the way, I spent many hours in Ralph's office, down through the years - those posters rock - Kylie in her underwear!!! That would NOT be tolerated anywhere else in the world, because some anally-retentive, lesbian, militant psycho-b!tch, would object on the grounds of sexual harassment.

Keep up the good work Ralph.

The server has been through a lot lately. At the moment, the replacement part required won't be delivered until Monday, so hold tight.
