Is Alonso in the same form as James? Another goal by James tonight, when the iron is hot, you've to strike on these lads.

Thats my two cents. I was going for the triple up because they just look soooooo good right now.

Is there any chance Azpi might get a look in anytime soon??

Of course he isn't in the same form as James. He'll only play because Chilwell isn't available. He isn't even a good player. But he is a very attacking player also, in a system that lets their wingbacks act like very attacking wingers.

I 100% believe that James has more attacking potential than Alonso. So the question for me here, is how many games does James get rotated in between now and when they go to the World Club Championships? I 100% believe the Watford game will be one of them (its now sandwiched between Leicester, Juventus, Manchester United and West Ham games, so 5 games in 15 days), so I wanna figure out if James will outscore Alonso by enough to account for him maybe playing 2 less games than Alonso (maybe this estimate is wrong).

I'm not necessarily saying I favour Alonso, just that I think it is a genuine conversation (the 0.5 to be saved is relevant also obviously).

Reckon he plays the next 2. RCB at the weekend. RWB against Watford IMO. Still don't think he is reliable for minutes now though with James only likely to be rotated for necessary rest reasons now with his form so unstoppable.

Do you have Livra on the bench? If so I think that makes the risk of James rotation a bit easier. For sure James could be rested for the Watford game but at least a playing defender coming off the bench mitigates it somewhat.

With Alonso its hard to read Tuchels mind on what he thinks of him. Alonso has a high ceiling himself but hasnt played since the end of September when he had that shocker v Man City. Id also wonder if Alonso does play are Chelsea more likely to concede which has a knock on effect for those doubling up on their defence.

Yeah I’ve had more of a think about it and can actually see some players that could play in that LWB role, given that it’s not at all defensive.

Confident I’ll be going for James this week, in spite of me being confident he won’t play next week.

Sounds like ACL for Chilwell. Big injury.

Outside of the ones most people seem to have (Trent, James, Cancelo, Livramento), what are good options for replacing him? Alonso or Rudiger are probably the way to go.

I think Alonso is the go to move if you already have James. Will I be using an actual transfer to go from Rudiger to Alonso though? No, probably not.

It's a swap to an Alonso or Rudiger.... This ain't a move to over complicate either if you already have James.

Pep quoted as saying he's not fully fit for tonight and still feeling the effects of the knock he picked up against Everton.

Chilwell has a partial tear of his ACL and will be out for a while.

    https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/2021/11/26/tuchel-press-conference-ahead-of-manchester-united

‘Ben is out,’ stated the boss. ‘He has a partial injury of his ACL [anterior cruciate ligament] and the decision is to treat it conservatively.

‘The next six weeks will tell the story if he makes it and will be fully available, or if he needs surgery after that.’

Foden (and Grealish) training away from the main group sounds ominous

Oh god. My Harvey, Jones and Origi triple up is in ruins.

But seriously, Jota needs to play for me.

    Klopp on Jota:

"Diogo felt something after the last premier league game and didn't train yet. We will see if he can train today he's an option. But if he's not, he's not"

    Crystal clear then...

I don't even have a Spurs or Brighton player and even still this week isn't looking great for me. No playing keeper. ESR still flagged (although his injury was apparently only minor last week so hopefully he plays). Jota hasn't trained all week. Vardy did 90 minutes last night so might be benched. Spurs Leicester is probably off next game week so it's likely my transfer next week is taken up with him.

I would take a 15 min cameo from jota at this rate cos I am unlikely to field 11
