Parkmore intersection lights?

What is going at Parkmore junction? Have the light sequences been changed again? Traffic is slightly nuts.

Something is up, traffic inbound from city side seems ferocious at the moment..

Same coming from Dunnes side. The lane coming from traffic lights up to Parkmore seems to have a regular red light now, causing a tailback so no one can come through Brierhill junction.

Galway bay fm can be useful sometimes for traffic but think i spotted the bike heading over to tuam road just before I lasted posted..

Sequencing was out at the Parkmore junction - left filter lane which usually has a flashing amber except when traffic is turning right from Carnmore was staying red for nearly all the turns. Pedestrian lights were also changing to red even though nobody was pushing the button. So it ended up in the massive tailbacks we saw this morning.

Are lights back to normal yet? They were still flashing amber at 3pm. Mayhem getting through from parkmore

Yeah apparently they were fixed just after 3pm and there are Gardai on standby just in case...

Anyone know what time the "Urban Traffic Management Centre" actually start and stop monitoring the traffic? The traffic was backed up in all directions for hours this morning before there was any response from the city council. If the traffic is being monitored then surely they would have manually overridden the lights much earlier.

Some of the houses that need to be bought are owned by Tesco are abandoned so would actually improve the area. Pub talk is that the owner of a competing shopping centre bought one of the houses in the middle of Tesco trying to build their land bank and refused to sell which was one of the reasons Tesco could never proceed with their plans at the site

This is one reason why car traffic is so bad at this junction, why did Galway City Council & the National Roads Authority allow a big shopping centre road entrance to be build less than 10 meters away from the N6 (a single digit road no less) and one of the busiest road junctions in Galway City?

They did the same with the Lidl in newcastle. Bloody stupid decisions

To be fair, whatever they have done since the disaster Monday morning had worked in my opinion. Athenry to park more has been smooth sailing every morning this week and less congestion that ever, even with some secondary schools finishing up this week

I'm waiting for tuesday morning to see how good or bad it'll be trying to get out of the parkmore road to the briarhill junction.. Last week and the week before i waited through eight cycles of the lights before getting off the parkmore road..

Ya that was just Galway City Council though, NTA / NRA should really know better than allowing big retail developements be situated on National transport corridors. Briarhill shopping centre should be oriented 180 degrees in the other direction, face Doughiska and have the vehicle entrance on the Doughisk Road.
