Can't Access IRC using Putty.

I was happily using putty to use IRC up until a few weeks ago. (IRSSI and bitchx) but now I can't seem to access it any more. It keeps timing out and I'm not able to connect. It's very annoying. Any reason why this is happening? Did I miss a memo? I'm not doing anything different to what I was doing when it was working ok…
