Upgrading to Eir fibre, how to connect distant non-WiFi devices.

About to upgrade to Eir fibre,

The problem I have is 3 non-WiFi devices (2xdesktop, 1 Printer) that are located in a room a good distance from the house entry point. Currently I have the Eir modem in that room (there's a phone point) and the 3 devices are wired to the modem.

That won't work with fibre so I'm looking for the best solution to connect these devices to the new, fibre internet.

I could get a wireless dongle for each devices but am wondering if there's a better solution. Some sort of ethernet hub that could connect wirelessly to the fibre modem. I would connect the devices to the hub and off I go. I don't want to run cables all over the house or go digging up floorboards, etc.

I'm sure there's a neat solution to this problem but I'm a novice about these thing!

    TIA

If there is wifi at that location a "range-extender" with ethernet ports should do the job https://www.tp-link.com/uk/support/faq/442/

If it were me I would go with a combination of powerlan to get the signal to the distant room and a hub to connect the devices. For example: Powerlan and hub.

Yep a range extender or powerline adapters will do it. If you can’t get them with multiple ethernet ports, you can just get an ethernet switch to get more ports out of the one on it.

Eir also have their own range extender that you could ask for but I don’t know if there’s an extra charge every month for it on 1Gb and below, if you’re getting 2Gb/5Gb then it will be the new WiFi 7 one which is €5pm.

    Hi,

Thanks all for the advice. Looks like I have powerline adaptors left over from an old evision installation so I guess all I need is an ethernet hub. Don't ever throw anything out!

Just to note that you will almost certainly not get the full 1 gig speed through powerline units.
